Hello guys,

After around a month of trying to find a dashcam for the 2025 Tucson N Line, i ended up being between those 2 models. The Viofo A229 Pro 2ch and the A329 2ch. I already ordered from abroad, the HK4 Hardwire kit along with the fuse taps and the Viofo 512gb sd card cause i was almost certain at first that i will end up getting the A229 pro, but later i saw some comparison videos with the A329 and i noticed that some licence plates are being captured better in A329.

What i like in the A229 pro based on what i saw is the more natural colors on the video. On the other hand, i think the A329 captures the licence plates kinda better in certain circumstances if i'm not wrong but the overall video quality looks very oversharpened for some reason. (I think that oversharpening fixed with latest updates and looks better based on some videos that i saw but not 100% sure).

I also read in forums and stuff that some people have overheating, screen gltiching, dead car baterry issues etc. Not sure if those incidents happen often and if they happen more to the A229 pro or to the A329 but that made me concerned since both of them cost a lot of money in general.

The store in my country that Viofo page suggests to buy their products from, told me that they have the A229 Pro in stock and the A329 may take from 2 weeks to a month probably to become available. As for the A329S, they told me that they have no info if they will bring it to the store. I don't mind waiting a bit more for the A329 if it's better and has less problems etc than the A229 pro. I just don't know anymore what the better option is or if i should stay away from getting any of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

I've been very happy with the upgrade from the A229 Pro to the A329S. Better video quality, especially when running a 3CH setup, wider interior cam, improved parking modes, SSD support if you need it, plus a bunch of new features in development in beta.

I have seen some issues with screen glitching in older firmwares, as well as the annoying issue with parking mode sometimes disabling itself when remounting the dashcam, but luckily that's being addressed with newer firmware too.

The 229 Pro is a solid dashcam, but the 329 is a welcome step up.

Thanks a lot for the reply! Do you have the same opinion for the regular A329 2ch as well? The A329S is unfortunately not being sold in my country yet and the store has no info when they will bring it.

Also, do you think it's gonna be a bad idea to buy a discontinued product cause just in case if something happens to it, the replacement might be more difficult to be made by Viofo?

And as of parking mode, is the 512gb sd card with motion detection, wifi off and the voltage set to 12.2 or 12.4 gonna be enough to record for 1.5-2 days whenever needed? I'm asking that cause i saw a video where someone mentioned that most dashcams draws a lot of power even in parking mode and tbh i want to avoid using a battery park.

The original A329 was a bit meh IMO. It had some minor improvements over the A229 Pro, but not a huge deal. The A329S is way better with the optional third cam, new parking modes, etc.

Parking record times can vary widely depending on your car battery so it's hard to say one way or another. Honestly I haven't gone back to using the car battery in a while so I don't know off the top of my head either.

I would have probably picked the A329S 2ch if it was available since i'm mainly interested in 2ch mode, but i'm limited to the regular A329 2ch or the A229 pro 2ch.

The things you didn't liked on the regular A329 is that the improvements were small compared to the A229 Pro or there were other problems with it?

The parking mode concerns me tbh. The battery on the car is new cause we got the car few months ago but i don't know much about it and i was hoping it would last for 1-2 days on motion detection whenever i need it.

Do yourself a favor, order online and get a 329s. You should be well pleased with that model and you won't need to kick yourself afterwards.
Thanks a lot both of you for the suggestions. Good thing is that today i found online a store in my country that brought the A329S so i will probably order it if the availability is valid as they told me on the phone!

I assume that you own the A329S as well, so i wanted to ask how is your experience with it so far? Did you noticed any slow sd card errors, screen glitching, overheating or dead car battery issues?

Yes I do own the 329s with V2.0 update installed. My first Dash Cam. Have no card problems. Seems to work just great. The picture quality and geofencing really makes it perfect for my use. Am very happy with my install, it is a winner and glad I opted for this model. Hope you have the same experience if you get one. Good Luck !!

I am another A329S 3CH owner/user, and I just installed mine in August 2025. This is the first and only
dash cam I've ever owned and I'm also very happy with this system.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't experience any problems with it. I hope that's the case for when i get mine as well! The only thing i need to do now though, is reordering the hardwire kit cause the one i ordered few weeks ago was the HK4 which will have limited features compared to the HK6 that i'm gonna order!

I got pretty lucky with the timing, bought the A329S in July when it popped-up on Amazon, and waited for the HK6.
I bought the HK6 directly from Viofo the day it was released in August. I can't compare because I've never had the HK4,
but the HK6 is pretty awesome. I like that I can get into or even near my truck with my cell phone, open the Beta version
of the App and see my battery voltage. Even with the A329S tuned off or in Parking Mode the HK6 transmits the battery
voltage through Bluetooth, with the truck on or off.

I have always liked cool things, gadgets, and I'm having a bit of fun with this new toy.

That's actually nice and useful. I didn't know that we are able to check the car's voltage through the app as well. i thought only through the dashcam itself!

As for the HK4, it was too late for me to cancel the order cause it was already on the way to my country but at least i can use the fuse taps from the HK4 to the HK6 that i ordered, if it's needed.

Also, about the differences between those kits is that with HK6 you have a real time voltage display (the thing you mentioned on your message), you have lower power consumption in parking mode and there are some other features as well that are supported by the HK6 that are not available on the HK4.

Just to be clear I did not have the voltage display on the Android app that was released in July 2025. I didn't see that until
I installed the Beta Android app from 10/27/25. Apparently the HK6 was always capable so if you are looking forward to this
option might want to make sure you are running the latest Firmware.

A comparison of A229pro vs A329S should realize that the A229pro can be bought $100-$150 cheaper. Depending on number of channels (2 vs 3) it can be even more. If you are demanding the best, compare dashcams of similar price points. Also realize that the ease of use verdict also isn't out on the A329S initial firmware/software hiccups since it is much newer.

I think a more fair comparison would be the A329S vs Vueroid S1 vs the Thinkware u3000 pro. Please see Safety Solutions videos for these comparison. Another competitor to look out for would be 70Mai (800 series vs 360 Omni).

I searched about that thing recently and saw that Viofo indeed have that feature along with some other stuff on their Beta firmware. Hopefully, it will pass the beta stage soon! 🤞
