VIOFO A229 Pro / Telephoto Camera / Video and Screenshots

My 2 pieces A229 Pro + Telephoto have never turned off due to heating in parking mode.
If at 20:49 outside the car it was +30.5 degrees Celsius, then you can imagine what the temperature was outside at 14:57, when the car was parked.
And how many degrees the temperature inside the car rose during the parking, I can't even imagine.
I'm in Manila Philippines. It's a tropical country where 35 to 37C is the normal ambient temperature during the day. It gets to 40 to 42c during the summer. The inside of a car that's out in the sun is like an oven here.

To operate in parking mode at such temperatures, any model requires water cooling.
Or you need to use a single-channel model that shoots in Full HD. 😉

Just because you haven't had an issue with overheating doesn't mean a fair few others haven't. You need to understand this.

I have had issues with the A229 Pro overheating here in the Australian summer. After running it for over a year straight every day, mine eventually failed a month or so ago.

They write a lot about A229 Pro overheating.
I have A229 Pro + Telephoto installed in 2 cars, which work without problems and have not had a single shutdown due to heating.
I remember writing about observations of this model in the heat, but I did not find it in my thread. It turns out I wrote about this in another thread.
My A229 Pro overheated and shutdown while the car was on with the AC running. It didn't like nearly 40°C and direct sunlight hitting it while stuck in traffic.

While this only happened two times in the whole time it was installed, it does show that higher temps can cause issues. It will strongly depend on the region you are from.

There are often complaints from users on the Internet about the A229 Pro turning off at high temperatures.
I have 2 A229 Pros and neither of them has ever turned off due to heat. One has been working for a year and a half, and the other for more than a year at different temperatures.
The other day I had a similar story with the A329S, which could have happened to my A229 Pro, which had previously been hanging in the place of the A329S.
It was +36 degrees Celsius outside. The car had been parked in the sun for half a day. The video recorders were turned off. I got in, started the car, turned on the video recorders and went about my business. It was not far to go and the interior did not even have time to cool down. The car stood in the second parking lot for half an hour with the windows open, and the sun was shining on the car from behind.
I got in, started the car and noticed that the A329S did not turn on. Having reached my home parking lot, I tried to restart the A329S. All the LEDs on the A329S lit up, but it didn't start and after a few seconds everything turned off. After a few seconds, all the LEDs on the A329S lit up, but it didn't start and after a few seconds everything turned off. And so on in a circle. I turned off all the DVRs and went home.
By evening, the temperature dropped and I went to check the A329S in the car. It didn't start and the story with the LEDs repeated itself. Disabling the telephoto didn't help.
I removed the A329S from the windshield, brought it home and at home it turned on.
The reason for the A329S turning off was in the HK4, which started working in the morning and has been working to this day. However, we haven't had such hot days anymore.

Edit:

What is this post about?
Because everyone blames the model itself for the shutdown, and no one even thinks about the KIT.
And the KIT, after cooling down, starts working as if nothing had happened.
And people think that the DVR cooled down and started working.

I took it for A229 Pro. Connected and checked at home.
The horizontal viewing angle is great. I don't know exactly how much, but it should be 180° for sure.
When I have time, I'll install it in the car and post screenshots.

I changed the HK4 to HK6 and no longer noticed the problem with switching off due to temperature.

I haven’t had issues with 229 pro in an Australian summer but my Blackvue 970x plus runs much hotter imo. I’ve sent back a few with same results
