Viofo A329T (unboxing & first impressions) (Sony Starvis 2 IMX678, Wi-Fi 6/GPS, HDR, Novatek NT98530, 4K front + 2.5K telephoto + 2.5K rear, HDR all)

I have a love - hate relationship with Cloud services. I can see the benefit but I also see the nightmares that others are having with Cloud services on dash cams and other devices. At present, I am satisfied with the direction VIOFO takes with image quality and can do without Cloud services.
110% this for me as well. Reliability of my Viofo dashcams has been it's strongest point over the years in using them, and their image quality has always been heads and shoulders above the competition. So for me I can forgive them for not having cloud

I have a car battery that has 4 posts and I am seriously considering pulling in the wire through the firewall and putting in a dedicated fuse box for dash cams. Reasonably easy to do but will take some shade tree engineering to find a suitable place to put the secondary fuse box.
Cheap AliExpress fuse boxes are a thing.
Was considering the same thing actually because I also have some amps in the back of the car and my battery terminal is getting quite crowded.

This sounds like an awesome change. The lack of a 3CH option was the biggest complaint with the original A329, so sacrificing the largely pointless HDMI port and giving us a variety of options for a third channel sounds like an excellent improvement.

This is a bummer compared to what Vantrue and 70mai are doing with cloud now. But Viofo has always had the best image quality and highest bitrate, so I'm willing to forgive them because I know they're a powerhouse to be reckoned with
Yes I see Viofo as best quality, medium reliability.
Vantrue doing great with cloud.
70mai I gave up on because kind of shady.

Looking forward to you testing the added awesomeness, should make an interesting video.

Now they have USB they should make it accept up to 8 cameras.

I suppose it's an improvement.... but what if I want 4CH with a rear camera, interior fisheye AND the 2K telephoto!

Now there's too many options to choose between 🤣

I would imagine it would be technically possible, but the bitrate coming out of each channel might be pitiful 🙁
We have seen other 4 channel cameras about 2 years ago.
It will for sure be difficult to implement but I guess Viofo will have the people to pull it off if they wanted to.
This is of course only possible if a fitting chipset can be found.

Or 7 channels + cloud

If you mention Rexing I'm going to throw up in my mouth haha

Very true, but they're probably constrained by the chipset and i would say the NT98530 isn't quite up to scratch. It's so hard to find datasheets on Novatek chipsets compared to Sony's Starvis 2 sensors. So maybe there is a chipset in their hands but we just don't know about it yet...
