Viofo A329T (unboxing & first impressions) (Sony Starvis 2 IMX678, Wi-Fi 6/GPS, HDR, Novatek NT98530, 4K front + 2.5K telephoto + 2.5K rear, HDR all)

Don't think the A339 is releasing anytime soon, Viofo has made references here on the forums to models in the pipeline before but they have always been 9-12 months away.

A329S is the focus for now. That and the A139 Pro are both coaxial but unsure as to what's changed as information is light on the ground at the moment..

Typo. A139 Pro and A329 Coaxial Cable Differences

I presume you talking about the Telephoto lens? I have not looked to see if any info is available as far as 'mix and match' of lens options but, what is now shown may be primarily marketing advertisement images. There could be other options as to what you can purchase. My A229's all came with the main body and the interior lens; that was not a listed option at the time but I contacted VIOFO and they were glad to package up the 2 channel option I needed.

However, this may go back to my request to VIOFO that all ports on the camera body be 'lens blind' as to what camera lens is in what port. This would give ultimate versatility to the model line, but would likely means each lens mounting would need something similar to a RFID chip or other inexpensive IC to announce it is a lens of a certain function. Software on dash cam body then sorts out the data stream from that lens.

I see what you mean. Well, that is why I suggested to VIOFO they standarise on one cable type and stick with it. Using coax and USB-C on same camera body causes issues with versatility. VIOFO seems to not understand this. Had they used all USB or all coax there would be no issues as to lens arrangement as long as all ports were indifferent about the data stream from that lens.

The telephoto can be used with a rear camera, that is how everyone wants to use the telephoto. The waterproof camera should be an alternative rear camera, so I would expect no problem using telephoto and waterproof together...

I use my Telephoto with the Interior camera. On the rear I use either an A129 Pro or an A229 Pro. The beauty of options and of course, additional wiring. 🙂 I find rear cameras to be a bit limiting and prefer to use a main camera at the rear.

What VIOFO intends with the A329S I do not know, but mixing coax and usb is not best for versatility. What was it on the A329, if you use an external SSD you had to use a GPS for power? Limitations like that are never good. I await to see what the limitations are that VIOFO built into the A329S, I will read the reviews before I buy one. I am sure the image quality will be excellent but there are other aspects that are just as important to me.

These are the listed bundle names.
The A329S is the actual model itself of the main unit, and the 'included camera's then determines the bundles name (A329SW etc).
The separate cameras are interchangeable between different A329S units, ie; the telephoto lens can be swapped for a waterproof lens etc.
They plan to do the individual add-on cameras separately so you can mix and match - but to what extent of mixing hasn't been confirmed yet.

Is A329S still going to have SSD over USB support?
