Hello,
I'm really curious what dash cam do you guys use and reason(s) what you are using that.
This could help someone who are looking for dash cam or new to this forum can get informed before purchasing their own dash cam.

I use the DOD LS475W in the front and an older DOD LS360W in the rear.
Love these cameras due to the excellent low light capabilities... I personally only run them at 1080p/30fps with no CPL filter as to allow as much light as possible onto the sensor.. Even though they can do 60fps.....
Both are batteries, not capacitor based, but never had any issues with them. My DOD LS360W is 3 years+ old and still working great...

Street Guardian SG9663DC very solid performer and has outstanding sales and support. Great combination.

Street Guardian SG9665GC. Initially it was the wedge type design which appealed as it blends in more with the rear view mirror mount etc and then it was the ubiquitous praise for their customer service and ongoing support. Excellent video quality, especially at night. Hardwired using the VICO Power Plus battery protect. I've installed them in about six cars and eight trucks and rarely have a problem - when I do it's almost always the SD card which just need a format and away we go again!

I am tester so a range of cameras in my car, the SG9663DC i received not long ago i already call my main camera and it also have the best location on my windscreen.
That camera are flanked by another SG camera and a Guard track on the other side, and then my long range Joovuu X camera, that currently get swapped a lot with the mobius Maxi thats my latest arrival.

The main thing are to find what is good for you in the jungle of cameras, this is where some people get hammered with the great choice of cameras to choose from.
Biggest thing is dont go too cheap on camera or memory card.

The little B1W i was sent a while ago make a excellent cabin camera glued to my mirror stalk aimed out back, capture everything in the cabin unless its like really dark.

Other cameras in my car are the Mobius B lens ( left side ) and Innovv C3 on the right side, both have been with me for many years and given me good footage wherever they have been placed over time.

We do have the dashcam buying guide too, it could maybe be larger if we users could add to it in some ways, not directely but maybe a vote like thing, or a form one could fill out and submit a camera to that list, so if more have submitted the same camera and have good experience with it, then it should be on the list.

I drive a pretty old but still in good shape and good running 2000 Camry. I am also a new driver. I initially bought an A119 V2 w/gps for the front and an A119S for the rear. I bought them because they are an incredible value and I love the image quality they are capable of.

I bought them because I need the cams to record any major incidents I am involved in so my insurance premiums don't go up. For driving they would have been more than enough, but unfortunately I have to park outside by the curb lane and the parking mode it has was too much of a hassle and work to get it the way I wanted. I ended up ordering a 2 channel DR900S because it has the image quality I like and the buffered parking mode that I require. It was over twice the price of the A119 cameras but after I'm done setting it up the way I want, I hope to never deal with it again except for basic maintenance.

I really hope Viofo does a proper buffered parking mode one day. That would make them perfect in my books.

I currently have my first and only dash cam by Thinkware; The F770 dual camera model and Cellink B battery. I chose this camera system (or this setup) mainly because of its parking mode feature. I've never had any incidents or accidents whilst driving (not whilst having my cameras anyway). Most of the damage my cars have inflicted have been from other cars / drivers scraping and bumping into my car whilst parked on a narrow street, or from malicious damage from vandals.

Since owning my dash cameras, I have captured a total of 5 incidents that have either helped me out when my car has been damaged, or my neighbour's car when it was damaged. It certainly would have cost me (and my neighbour) a lot of money in repairs, had I have not have these parking mode videos as proof. Many would say that its better to have a dedicated CCTV system pointing at my car, but that is not practicable in my situation.

My next plans are for a multi-cam system either looking all around my car or at least down the sides of my car too. However, a camera system with good parking mode feature, like the one Thinkware offers on its F770 model (love its time-lapse parking mode feature), are my top priority when looking out for any new dash cam system.

I also wish there are solutions to keeping the windscreen clear whilst the car engines are off / whilst the car is parked, so that the cameras have a good and clear view out.

My large car has Street Guardian SGZC12RC and JooVuu in the front, plus a JooVuu in the rear.

My small car has a JooVuu and Cobra 840 in the front, plus a Mobius in the rear.

My wife's large car has two JooVuu in the front and a Panorama II S in the rear.

I have a Mio 538, a Blacksys CF-100 and a Mobius in my spare bits box.

The main reason we have those cams is that they're mostly compact and reliable.

Wow, that's a lot of JooVuus 🙂 Which firmware are you using?

Yes, a lot of JooVuus, but they all still work and record reliably.
I found them to be good, reliable cameras despite other people reporting issues.
Sure, as a beta-tester I encountered issues, but I solved all of them by having a good memory card, good power supply and good firmware.

However, most FW updates using the .bin file placed on the memory card failed and I had to install almost all FW using the .elf file using the 'un-bricking' procedure.

I think the firmware is August 2016 - I want to say 16th August 2016. Some might be September 2016 - 23rd September 2016.
I'll check FW next time I'm in the car.

if you haven't already please update to the latest 2018 firmware, there's some memory card handling improvements

Nice one, I've been a little out of touch over the last year or so with the dash cameras. I'll get the firmware downloaded and installed soon - I'm assuming it will reset all settings so it takes me a while to do them all!
