Let's say I have a dedicated external dashcam battery. How can I make the VS1 go into Parking Mode? I plan to only turn on the VS1 when parked. Is there a way to connect the VS1 to a battery and then force it into Parking Mode?

What kind of battery do you plan to use, what parking mode do you want to use, time lapse or low bitrate recording?

Powercell 8. Auito Event Detection or low bitrate. But my absolute favourite is Auto Event Detection as I have fewer files to go through. I can buy the BBYCar Spliced cable which will put the VS1 into Parking Mode but it's around $80 CDN.

If you use the Powercell 8 and BBMC spliced cable for the VS1, it will be no problem for the dashcam to enter the parking mode as that cable supports acc detection.

I’m trying to avoid using the spliced cable. It cost $80 CAD. Without using the spliced cable, how can I put the VS1 into Parking Mode?

If you do not use that spliced cable, you still need to combine the output cable from battery with our HK5 hardwire kit for parking mode.
You can refer to this article: https://support.viofo.com/support/s...se-an-external-battery-pack-for-parking-mode-
Viofo, thanks. I will check it out.

Well, BBMyCar told me the pricing was incorrect at $80 CAD when I brought it to their attention and have adjusted it down to $54.99 CAD. Much more reasonable.

PS. I'm choosing the VS1 over the Mini 2 because the VS1 has many more options to place the camera such as hanging it down from the plastic light casing in my car. Or I can stand it straight up from a stand. I will order the extra adhesive housing, probably 3 or 4 extra ones so I can move the VS1 to different spots and in another vehicle when needed.
