when exactly is a "snapshot" taken (hearing the snapshot sound)

I've searched the manual for "snapshot", and it only shows up in one place, showing where the "snapshot" files are stored.

I've got the A329S with HK6. I'm getting snapshot sounds when opening/closing my door after car is shut off (in parking mode)...no announcements from main unit.

Update, seems the main unit is just doing strange things since I added the interior cam (I was running for a month+ with only front cam).

Just a bit ago, getting into car while in parking mode, shutting door triggered the snapshot sound, then it announced protected--so was that an "impact" detection? Sensitivity set too high? Normal?

Also, while parked and in park mode (I was on phone), I think I went into accessory mode for something and the main unit started beeping, had to remove it from mount...

And randomly while driving the main unit will announce "wifi on" when in fact it is not on.

Starting the car will sometimes trigger if in parking mode (have we heard that one before? LOL)--Miata, starts a bit rough...

Unfortunately I'm thinking I might have to do a factory reset... (yes, latest firmware, first thing after the app connected...)

After you perform factory reset / default settings with all remote cameras connected try disabling VOICE COMMANDS to see if that stops triggering the camera from taking photos / snapshots.
Sometimes my trunk hinges squeak when I leave my driveway, and it causes the A329S mounted on the rear window to take photos / snapshots.

Ha! First thing I did was disable voice commands, considering my commentary while I drive, I'd trigger it like that "easter egg" video...

But, when is "snapshot" triggered? Nothing in manual I could find. I would assume a picture at the beginning of a video capture? Otherwise the only other way is by pressing the button on main unit.

Whatever... reset upcoming.

Is the implication that adding cams at a later date might require a reset? Inconvenient... I've got 1 more cam to add...

My windshield mounted A329s would do that all the time also, every little bump in the road.
I set all the impact detections to "medium".

I know this sounds crazy but can you record the "snapshot" sound in a video with your cell phone?
Are you sure you're not hearing the IR Cut Filter switching on / off?

The WiFi incident is the most concerning and should not be related to any sensitivity setting for impact detection, parking mode or otherwise. If that was announced and you had voice commands off, I would
certainly consider a firmware reflash and reset. If that did not fix the issue, then a warranty ticket to Viofo.

The IR Cut Filter on these interior cams tends to vibrate in their track. You could hear that rattle from time to time if the car is riding rough. On smooth roads, you would generally only hear the Cut Filter when it activated due to ambient light. If the Interior cam is close enough to the main camera, the microphone of the main camera will often pick up the filter as it rattles in the tray. You can check your video to see if you hear a rattle sound.

Dude! I've been reading your posts long enough to know you do sound crazy! 😂😂

I get it... I could... but after installing 7 Dahua exterior security cams, and some lesser interior (to your pleasure, all tested "on the bench" before install), I can tell the difference between the sounds. When powering up, I can hear the interior cam IR cut, to my ears very distinct from the typical snapshot sound from a phone for example. But for fun, I'll do it for you because being sincere, I do love your review efforts.

I will be sure not to use my "potato" phone for the video (thinly veiled ref to other parking mode thread 😏)...

I'll def do a reset, everything started after adding the interior cam, so I suspect firmware not handling it properly.

Re hearing the ir/cut rattle, eh, probably not over the wind noise and my frequent "Italian tuneups" 😁 in the Miata-always top down or not driven (and for now 99% daylight driving) !

I’ve grown accustomed people telling what an uneducated, ignorant, simpleton I am so I’m not comfortable hearing your praise 🤣
Thank you for the kind words.
Don’t bother with the video.
When I wrote that I was up for 24 hours, and my brain was shutting down from that thread trying to update the firmware in an A329S.
I’m also currently testing a new dash cam battery pack that has 5 new features that people are going to absolutely love.

Ooh, does it have voice commands, cloud connection, GPS tracker, flashlight and a voice that says "Good Morning Chuck" when you start the car?
