Afternoon People,
im hoping this is the right palce if not please move...

ive just recieved my new a119 mini v2 (hopefully i picked ok )
anyways i thought i had a spare micro sd card from my drone that i had,
turns out its only a sandisk extreme 32gb, obviously thats not gonna give hardly any recording time.

if i was to buy a 128gb card how long would it give me recording time or do i really need bigger? ie 512gb card.

thanks

also hopefully you can help wtih a few other questions ive got lol ๐Ÿ˜‰.

the plastic screen protector that comes in the box that you palce on the screen prior to sticking teh cam up,
can this be cut in half as its massive compared to the sticky 3m pad on the back of the cam?
or just toss it and stick right to the screen??
im going to stick it just to the left of the rear view (passenger side UK) hiding most of the cam by the dot matrix.

ive got the hard wire kit but waitng on some piggy back fuses from fleebay which should be here in the next day or so
thanks again guys

Welcome to the club.
You picked a great camera, itโ€™s my current Viofo favorite.
However, be advised users have recently reported the camera will loose focus after 90 minutes of continuous operation, and or in hot parking mode environments.
The focus issue will return to normal when the camera cools down.
If your camera has this issue youโ€™ll want to know about it while youโ€™re in the 30-day return policy to expedite the return process from your retailer.

The answer to this question will depend on the various settings you can select;
Resolution
Bitrate
fps (frames per second)
HDR On
HDR Off
Etc.

1.) Since you already have a 32GB card on hand insert into the camera, and format it inside the camera.
2.) When the camera is not recording it will display the available recording time in the top right corner of the LCD screen.
3.) Play with the different settings, and you will see the available recording time change with each selection.
I wish this โ€œfeatureโ€ was available in APP for the screen-less Viofo cameras, but they havenโ€™t gotten around to it yet.
4.) Multiply the available recording time by the various size SD Cards, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, etc.
5.) Consider purchasing two SD Cards, one to be used with the camera, and the other to keep in the glove box as a โ€œspareโ€.

Q: โ€œWhat are the best settings for the camera?โ€
A: The only answer to that question is to film your own test footage, and review it with your own eyeballs to see what works best for your specific application.

You may want to confirm & verify you have the newest โ€œupgradedโ€ Hardwire Kit before you go to the trouble of installing it in your car.
If you ever replace your A119 Mini 2 with something power hungry like an A139 Pro 3-Channel you may experience recording malfunctions due to power starvation issues.
You can see what Iโ€™m talking about here;

thanks for the reply mate really helpful.
going to100% keep an eye on it for 30days ...good shout!

this is the harware kit that i bought with it, im hoping this is the latest (usb c)

as long as its got a clear picture and not something that
looks like its been filemd off a potatoe i will be keeping it.

this is my first cam so a noob but know my way around electrics and cars,
so wont be problem in installing once ive found a perm live haha

just a little confused with card size but i guess all depends on the size of recording what ive set it too? do i stick with a class 10 card or anything else brand wise?

with it getting "hot" i did just watch a guy pinging one with a temp gun on youtube.
i could actually use mine as ive got a chameleon which i use a IR temp gun sometimes to check his viv is at the right temp.

i suppose on the plus side im in the uk and the weather only gets hot for about two days a year lol
today current weather Aug... lashing down with rain in london, almost all morning

This is how you tell if you have the old, or the new upgraded hardwire kit;
24AWG = Old (Max 11.5 Watts)
20AWG+24AWG = Upgraded New (Max 17.5 Watts)

24AWG vs. 20AWG+24AWG .webp

yes now ya say it your vid along witha few others helped me decide on this model,
so hopefully its all goodd.. panzer like the tank lol

the lead is the same as youre picture you posted.
im guessing usb c is the most resent port they use?
i have pet hate for the older usb port style.
will get it plugged in a couple of hours indoors and see if i can work it out (card sizes)

do you or anyone else use the claer sticker or just toss it ?
my dot matrix isnt raised on my windscreen its inside the actual glass!

Assuming the Mini2 is similar to the v3, on medium bitrate and 1440p res mine uses about a gigabyte per 5 minutes.

The plastic screen protectors are actually 'static' stickers - They work like those tempered glass screen protectors for phones; The idea is you stick it to your windscreen, and stick the dashcam to that; I think the idea is to make it easier to remove the dashcam later, as if you stick the dashcam directly to the windscreen it can be difficult to remove (That 3M VHB bonding tape is strong stuff!).

Assuming the Mini2 is similar to the v3, on medium bitrate and 1440p res mine uses about a gigabyte per 5 minutes.
The A119 Mini 2 currently has a variable / dynamic Bitrate that generates 1 Minute file sizes from 40MB to 220MB based on different lighting conditions.
I was informed a fixed / constant Bitrate may be implemented with a future firmware update, (and I hope it does).

I used the clear sticker, partly because I didn't trust my ability to get the horizontal position correct when I stuck the camera to the windshield.
And I'm glad I did, because I did not notice the fact that I placed it too close to the mirror, so the mirror shows up in the left side of the videos, so I will be re-positioning the darn thing.
I wish they just used a simple suction cup mount.
I bought mine mainly to record videos of our road trips, not so much to use as a daily dash-cam.
I haven't recorded much, will have to watch for the out-of-focus issue.

well recieved the piggyback fuse holders today,
so will let you know how it all goes tomorrow once fitted ๐Ÿ˜‰
good point i suppose with using the sticker but will try using live view prior to sticking it up first! fingers crossed

Good point lol....I was in a hurry and never gave a thought to using live view when sticking it to the window. Will be sure to use it next time.

No, ignition only; I wasn't confident the parking mode wouldn't kill my 12v battery, as my car has known issues with the 12v battery running down!

I'm currently using a 256GB Sandisk Max Endurance in mine
