Can someone please make a Wiki on how to get the best out of your mini0801.
I'd like to be able to just refer to it and i'm sure many others would.
How to make the screen go off after you start driving.....?
How do i know i am recording?
Why is my date stamp wrong even though i set it to my timezone?
What do the colored lights mean on the unit, they seem to differ at times.
My buttons don't always work, has the unit frozen?
I'm sure others have plenty of questions. i'm sure they are much more important that i am a tight arse & bought the cheapest unit and it is fake question asked repeatedly.

had a look at the above mentioned.... it answers none of the above questions.

my unit when turns on says.... do you want to continue without saving video? why is this?
My camera tells me my card is full..... i get home & there is 400MB of video on the card.... FULL what bullshyte it's a 32gig card

Yes we need a WIKI to help people like myself understand how to get the best out of the unit... not crap like how to pull it apart.

there's no wiki and I'm not sure anyone is going to make one for you anytime soon, there's plenty of info on your model in the forum already though but you need to invest a bit of time to search through the existing posts

if you post what settings you have for each menu option you might be able to get some pointers on a couple of your questions, what options you have can vary by firmware version so more detail is needed before you can get answers to some of your queries, detail of your firmware version and a link to whichever version you bought might help also

I'd like to share my experience of supporting customers that may help.

I received emails very often that asking why the camera without reaction or something wrong,

First of all, I told customers the camera on your hand has been tested 3 times before ship (that is the fact), should have confidence the camera is good.
Second, Please calm down, we are responsible for any quality issue, you should get replacement if the problem is there.
Third, Please take half hour, go through the information form top to bottom on our spec sheet, watch the videos, check against the camera on hand.

The end, 98% problems has been solved after following the operation instruction.

Although a lot of instruction manuals aren't very well written or contain poor English they do generally contain most of the info needed

I suffered through the mini 0801 all last year. I had two, replaced both, still had issues. 0801 is not really a good long term solution. The weird messages and behavior occur with no ryhme or reason. I tried multiple card sizes, card speeds, firmwares, the works. In the end I gave up.

If you want a nice history lesson read this longest thread ever:

(121 pages!)

I am just perplexed by this unit.... it says it is working, recoding all day. I get home and there is 3 little video files on the card. What a waste of time. I've run a hardwired to the power supply to avoid voltage shortcomings of the cig/lighter connection. Still am dumbfounded.

So all you effing experts that tell me to refer to the VIDEO....what video?

as mentioned previously if you post your menu settings it will give a starting point, knowing what options you've selected in the menu makes it easier for people to help you

Try a different MicroSD card. That might be the problem. This camera is not known for reliability.

what options? i am a normal car driver. So i have GPS enabled... i have 3min loop what else would one select to make this stupid unit not operate properly as one would expect. These days we buy product and we expect it to work. I have a reputable brand (sandisk) card 32g. Why change cards? Do you think i just have a draw full of $35 cards just sitting around?

if you list what you have set it's at least possible to know if you have something set incorrectly, if you don't want to do that then it's going to be very hard to help you, perhaps you've got it all set correctly but it's hard to know, it's a process of elimination

some firmware versions for this camera have issue with Class 10 U1 cards, even if it's a brand name card

ok so i bring it inside to get all the info for you jokiin... i plug in the USB but all i get is USB CONNECTED MESSAGE pushing no other button gives me any information... how am i to retrieve this info if the unit has no power? Thats why i connect the USB cable.

wow something happened, unplugged it a few times and now i have my menu....
video resolution... full HD 1920 x 1080P
Auto Power Off 3Min
Loop Setting 5 min
Motion Detect ON
Power Off Screen 1 MIN
Video Record Mode VIDEO + AUDIO
G SENSOR Precision 3G
GPS OPEN
FW VERSION 20140404

That's my info!

OK so what does motion detect do? why turn it off? Explanations can be helpful & i wouldn't be asking questions if i didn't want answer that make sense and others can use in the future.

the camera will routinely stop recording if motion detect is left on, if no motion within 3 minutes it would also power off (you can't use auto power off if using motion detect) so then you'd end up with not much recorded, sounds like what you've been experiencing

just went for a quick drive.... footage was good. Playback shows NO GPS map information. NO KM/H information. Getting there, not quite satisfied.

You can not expext and demand too much from cheap dashcam. You can expext and demand from high-end products. Need to set your budget to 200-250usd to have more piece of mind.
With cheaper products there is always more issues than with high-priced. For example battery drill: high-end Milwaukee cost 5-10x more than cheaper unbranded ones. Cheap one will do some drilling job, but its never going to be as reliable as high-end and have more risk of different issues.

You can not blame product or seller. Its our choice how much to spend. You pay less - you get less. Thats simple.

However most firmware or operational related issues has been resolved and described in forum. Just take some time and explore 0801 sub-forum posts, you will find a lot of answers there. Also you will find posts about Sandisk some time being too fussy to work on dashcams.

All info is there 😉
