I frequently get out of my vehicle for short durations, vehicle is running.
I would like to have a wireless mic TX on me and a RX plugged into the mic input on the a139pro.
Thinking of getting the DJI Mic

Anyone have a wireless mic setup that is working well?

TIA

Not heard of anyone using a wireless mic with the A139 Pro, but interested to hear how you get on...

I've seen/heard the DJI mic in use and it sounded pretty good. It is not particularly small and inconspicuous though.

From VIOFO Support

"Sorry, our cameras cannot support a wireless mic now. An external microphone should work, or you can use ours."

The DJI Mic that you mentioned does say:
Different devices mean different input adapters, and DJI Mic covers them all. The receiver has USB-C, Lightning, and 3.5mm TRS ports, making it compatible with mainstream smartphones, cameras, and laptops.

Doesn't mention dashcams, and I think the A139 Pro only has a mono 3.5mm input, so not strictly a TRS port. I assume the DJI Mic is stereo since you can use two transmitters with the receiver.

I would be very surprised if it did not work OK with the A139 Pro though, possibly requiring a stereo to mono adaptor.

One issue would be that if you have it plugged into the A139 Pro then the A139 Pro will not use its internal microphone, so you will need to keep the DJI Mic charged and powered on. I'm not sure about the practicality of it for continuous use, but should be fine for occasional use.

I assume Viofo Support was thinking that you wanted to use a Bluetooth Microphone, connected to the A139 wirelessly via Bluetooth, which indeed is not supported, and is not ideal anyway, it wouldn't give you enough range and isn't good when driving as it introduces a bit of delay on the sound. The DJI Mic is an external microphone and should plug in OK.

Not sure that you would need to plug the DJI Mic in to the A139 though, it has its own recording, so may be easier to use stand alone?

Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing a little more about your use case for this? Are you doing vlogging or something? (I just ordered the new Rode Wireless Pro this morning after having the DJI Mic in my cart for the past few weeks, haha. For a while now I've been wanting to upgrade my mics for interviews at SEMA and CES...)

Anyways, looking at the Viofo mic, it uses a TRRS connector and so I'd assume any other TRRS mic should work. The DJI Mic uses TRS connectors though so you'll likely need an adapter to connect the DJI Mic's receiver output to your A139 Pro's mic port.

Success & Thank You both for your valuable input.

Here is how it went down after reading your replies.

Stopped by a local store and picked up the DJI Mic.
I found an old audio-technica ATR3350 lav mic i have, which has an inline but seperate TRS to TRRS adapter.
Plugged the DJI mic RX with the cable that came with the DJI Mic into the TRS on it and the other TRRS end from the adapter into the a139pro.
Started the vehicle and VOILA...it worked!

Walked around the vehicle and the TX stayed connected to the RX and audio recorded to the file on the a139pro...range test will be next.

Reason for wanting to use this setup is mainly to have audio to go along with the dashcam footage when i'm outside my running vehicle using a drone for business purposes.
I've had an encounter being confronted by a grumpy person that didn't like what i was doing, and to which what i was doing was perfectly legal.
I can't stop operating when this happens and the encounter was recorded on my dashcam, but no audio because the mic is inside the vehicle.

Yes the DJI Mic can record internally but having the hassle to sync up the audio to the video after the fact doesn't look appealing especially if there may be times i or the other
person are not in frame.

One of our business customers made this work, but it seems not a cheap solution.

Ahh, seems a very good reason, and a good solution.

I'm not convinced that you need the adaptor? No harm in using it, but I'd try it without and if that stops it working then put it back.

range test will be next.
Let us know the results, I think it should get into the vehicle OK with good range, but it would be good to know...

@Nigel and others

Range test complete. Wearing TX and walking a 100 foot radius, DJI Mic RX and TX stayed connected and audio was recorded to my a139pro while facing the RX and with back turned to RX.
I doubt i'll ever be that far away from my vehicle, so i'm happy with the outcome.

I used a RODE SC7 TRRS to TRS Coiled Patch cable between the a139pro and the DJI RX.
Turned dashcam mic off while removing the viofo mic from dashcam, installed the RODE SC7 already connected to RX, turned on RX , then turned mic back on on the dashcam.

Cheers
