The Vantrue N4 Pro S, also called the Nexus 4 Pro S, is a Chinese built, 3-channel rideshare camera launched in July 2025. Vantrue has been a pioneer with 3-channel dash cams releasing the original N4 in 2020 and N4 Pro in 2023. The current N4 Pro S improves on this line of cameras.
The Vantrue N4 Pro S is based on the Novatek NT98529 processor. It uses a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 CMOS sensor for the front camera, Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 CMOS sensor for the rear camera and Sony STARVIS 2 IMX662 CMOS sensor for the cabin camera. The introduction of the STARVIS 2 sensor across all three cameras is a significant improvement from a hardware perspective.
Comparison with Vantrue N4 Pro
The following table highlights the improvements the Vantrue N4 Pro S has when compared to the Vantrue N4 Pro.
| Area | Vantrue N4 Pro S | Vantrue N4 Pro |
|---|---|---|

| Cloud Support | Yes | No |
| Max. SD card size | 1 TB | 512 GB |
| Rear cam resolution | 2560×1440p | 1920×1080p |
| Rear cam FOV | 160° | 165° |
| Waterproof rear cam | Yes | No |
Video Quality
The N4 Pro S front camera records 2160p (4K) video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 32 Mbps. The STARVIS 2 sensor performs well with very good video quality during the day and adequate quality for video at night. We find that the video is comparable to other premium dash cams using the same STARVIS 2 sensor.
The rear camera records 1440p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 14 Mbps. Video quality is a decent and offers better quality than the original N4 Pro. Video at night is on the darker side and not the best we have seen.
The cabin camera, which is built into the main dash cam unit, comes with 4 IR LED lights to illuminate the cabin at night. This camera records 1080p at 30 fps with an average bitrate of 9.8 Mpbs. The cabin camera does a good job of recording details in the cabin, even with low lighting.
Features
The Vantrue N4 Pro S comes with both an adhesive mount and a suction cup mount. For most installations the adhesive mount is preferred as the installation is more compact. The camera connects to the mount using a magnet which allows for easy removal.
The N4 Pro S has a 3.19″ screen, g-sensor, GPS, 5 GHz WiFi and free apps for Android and iOS. A new feature for 2025 is cloud support. If you purchase the optional Vantrue LTE module, you can connect to your dash cam remotely.
One area which can be seen as a negative for the N4 Pro S is its size. This dash cam is even larger than the N4 Pro at 123 x 58 x 44mm. However this does include the front facing camera, cabin camera and a 3.19″ screen.

The N4 Pro S build quality is very good and the camera comes with screen error notifications. The dash cam also comes with voice control supporting numerous voice commands such as “Take Photo”, “Turn on Wifi” and “Lock the video”.
Vantrue has also introduced PlatePix technology to improve license plate readability. In some scenarios this provides a little bit of improvement but if license plate readability is a key feature you are looking for, consider a camera with a telephoto lens.
Parking Mode
The Vantrue N4 Pro S supports the following parking modes with the purchase of an optional hardwiring kit:
- Buffered Motion Detection
- Collision Detection (not useful as recording starts 10+ seconds after impact)
- Low bitrate recording
- Low framerate recording
Support
Like other Vantrue products, build quality is good and reliability appears to be good as well. Vantrue has decent support and does provide firmware updates. The warranty can be extended from 12 months to 18 months when registering online which is a positive.
Known Problems
There are no common problems reported with this camera.

Should I Purchase
The Vantrue N4 Pro S is one of the best tri-channel rideshare dash cams available. Video quality of the STARVIS 2 sensors is decent, build quality is good and the camera comes with many features such as 1TB MicroSD card support, optional cloud capabilities and an 18 month warranty with registration.
The primary negative is the larger size and slightly worse video quality then cameras such as the VIOFO A329S. Given the attractive price for a three channel dash cam, the N4 Pro S is an excellent buy for rideshare camera.
