70mai T800

The 70mai T-800 is a 3-channel Chinese manufactured dash cam released in July 2025. 70mai is well known for making good dash cams at excellent prices. The T800 is a major improvement over 70mai’s previous models in a few areas. It is one of the first dash cams on the market to have 4K video for both front and rear cameras, and both are using Sony Starvis 2 sensors.

Also 70mai opted to use a capacitor instead of a battery in this dash cam to close off video files when power is removed. Most other major dash cams have moved away from batteries so this is a welcome change from 70mai.

The 70mai T800 is based on the Novatek NT98530 processor. It uses a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 CMOS sensor for the front camera and a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 CMOS sensor for the rear camera (model RC41). Note that a 1080p camera, model RC24, is available as well but we recommend the RC41 version. The interior camera uses the Galaxycore GC2093 CMOS sensor.

Video Quality

The T800 front camera records 2160p (4K) video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 32 Mbps. The STARVIS 2 sensor performs well with very good video quality during the day and good quality for video at night. We find that the video is comparable to other premium dash cams using the same STARVIS 2 sensor.

The rear camera also records 2160p (4K) video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 32 Mbps. Video quality is a very good during the day but average at night given limited lighting at the rear of the vehicle.

The cabin camera, which is built into the main dash cam unit, comes with 4 IR LED lights to illuminate the cabin at night. This camera records 1080p at 30 fps with an average bitrate of 13 Mpbs. The cabin camera does a good job of recording details in the cabin, even with low lighting.

Features

The 70mai T800 uses a wedge shaped form factor and is a larger camera at 123 x 63 x 46 mm. The camera can be mounted directly to the windshield or on a provided electrostatic sticker. The camera cannot swivel to record interactions at the driver or passenger windows. Overall build quality of this camera is quite good, similar to previous 70mai dash cams.

The T800 maintains many of the same features as previous versions including a large 3″ screen, g-sensor and built in GPS. The camera also comes with WiFi 6 and supporting apps for Android and iOS.

The T800 provides audio, screen and LED error notifications. It also has Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) built into the camera. Most owners find this feature annoying and typically turn it off.

Parking Mode, Hardwire Kit and 4G

If you would like to use the 70mai T800 for parking mode you will need to purchase a hardwiring kit from 70mai. There are 2 compatible kits available:

  1. 70mai UP03 Hardwire Kit – this enables parking mode only
  2. 70mai UP04 / UP05 4G Hardwire kit – this enables parking mode and 4G cloud capabilities (requires a SIM card and data plan). Make sure you check if your country is supported.

With the hardwire kit installed, the following parking mode options are available:

  1. Motion Detection – records 30 second video when motion detected. With 4G installed, you will receive a notice on the app
  2. Impact Detection – records 30 second video when impact detected. With 4G installed, you will receive a notice on the app
  3. Timelapse – continuous recording at 1 frame / second. Note this is not uploaded to the cloud

Beyond the 3 parking modes above, the optional 4G solution provides:

  1. Cloud Storage for 15 days with a max of 50 videos
  2. Remote video monitoring up to 30 minutes. Can also adjust settings remotely
  3. Parking Lot Search – determine location of vehicle in a parking lot and real-time monitoring on a map

Support

70mai support outside of China is not the greatest. However they do create firmware updates for their cameras to fix bugs and enable new capabilities which is a positive. 70mai provides a 12 month warranty, which is standard for most dash cams.

Known Problems

Should I Purchase

The T800 is the flagship dash cam for 70mai and is an excellent 3-channel camera. Having Starvis 2 4K sensors for both front and rear cameras is a first. Rear video quality has typically not been the best for 70mai cameras but the T800 addresses this shortcoming. Another positive change is that 70mai moved away from a lithium battery and utilizes a super capacitor for the T800.

Adding in the optional cloud features makes this a great dash cam. The main drawback is the non-buffered parking modes are not great. Price is also much higher than previous 70mai cameras which have been known for their great value. However this is a 3-channel cam and premium competitors are higher priced.

If you are looking for a good bang for your buck 4K camera, the 70mai A810 is a decent option as it is one of the most affordable dash cams using a 4K Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor. Also the availability of cloud features as an option is impressive. The T800 is a great dash cam at a reasonable price.
