As soon as you get rid of those Californians 😀
Don't worry, Moonbeam(Jerry Brown) and the democrats spending policies have already set the stage for fiscal implosion! Next they'll cry for Federal tax dollars and the President should veto a bailout!

My SJ7 finally made its way to me in California! Tried on my GoPro4 dive filter and it didn't fit, wish they made the waterproof case with the same dimensions as the gopro... Hopefully they'll make a good filter or modify the dimensions on the lens cover of the waterproof case. I don't have any calipers to measure the exact dimensions but it's just slightly wider and slightly shorter than a GoPro4 case.

But I am planning on testing it out tomorrow when I go snowboarding to get some real action cam footage and it should be bluebird sky's tomorrow so we'll see how it does with the California sun.
The Hero 3+ and 4 , 40 meter waterproof case lens protrusion measures 35.85 mm, wide .x 33.30 mm high.

I bought 58 mm aluminum filter adapters on Ebay, made for the Hero 60 meter waterproof cases ( with visible ring of screws) and machined/ sanded / finished them to fit Git 2 and Xiaomi Yi.

Mine are now stuck in customs, have been there since Thursday
Yes it take 2 days or more to process a parcel in "the worlds best country", most likely due to customs also being cut back in spite of a large rise in parcels coming to Denmark, i assume its 2 guys in a warehouse that do the work.

So after the 2 guys are done with their work its far from over, now a computer write a letter to me telling me how much i have to pay in customs before i can get my parcel.
So here in "the worlds best country" ( thats pretty small ) it can take up to 5 days for a simple letter to reach me, when i then get that letter i can pay my customs and my parcel "might" be released from the customs warehouse, and the parcel is then under way for another 2 days before i am able to get it.

And i said "might" above cuz even if you have paid your customs they might not release it though their computer system say customs paid release to receiver.

My last parcel spent a extra week in the customs warehouse, and if i had not called them the parcel would probably still be there now 2 months later.

So its a wonder to me Danes are such a happy bunch with so high thoughts about them self, to me my home country more and more look like some backwards place.
Does it actually need to take all that time and effort? Seems hard to believe when I'm used to UK delivery where letters sent by 18:00 will arrive almost anywhere in the UK by 12:00 the next day!

Last time Gitup sent me a camera, I got a TXT message that it had arrived in Hong Kong and would be delivered Monday (19:16 Saturday) , then I got a TXT message asking me to pay the UK sales tax & zero import tax (19:31 Saturday), which took me about 2 minutes to do online, then I got a message saying it was leaving Hong Kong (07:53 Sunday) and would be with me Monday, it arrived in the UK 22:32 Sunday and at my door 13:35 Monday. All the customs was sorted out before it left Hong Kong so there were no delays in the UK other than waiting for connections.

Yeah it is a mess over here, no wonder it it hard to make ends meet with the billions the Danes pay in taxes.

I cant see why i shouldent be able to online find my parcel and pay any outstanding customs on it online, but that letter in between i assume is a way to keep danish postal afloat, and why they have been allowed to use 5 days to deliver a regular letter.
You can off course get next day delivery of a letter, but then you have to pay double or something like that.
A regular slow ( 5 day ) letter 50 grams is 8 DKkr and the same as next day delivery is 28 DKkr, and if you need receiver to sign for that same letter it will cost you 60 DKkr.

Off course once i have gotten that letter from customs i can indeed pay my customs online, or i can go and do that on the "postoffice"

I say "postoffice" cuz really we dont have those anymore, now we have post shops at superstores and what not manned by their people, and not that it is bad, its actually better than when we had dedicated true post offices years ago.

The top gear guys would have no problem racing a letter from one end of Denmark to the other end, actually captain slow and the little guy could win while on bicycles instead of a Porsche.

Sjcam also wanted to use DHL or something, but i asked to use post as that give a chance of getting by customs, and my phone-number is canceled and will expire in a few days, and worst of all,,,,, well not really 😀 i havent gotten around to getting an new phone number cuz as that turn out thats even more complicated than getting a parcel from a non EU country.
I have tried getting a new phone number over a week ago, but it seem i first have to jump thru a lot of hoops like some seal at a circus. 🙁

I have a feeling Danish customs still have a warehouse full of x-mas presents to go thru 🙄 it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

In Denmark more so than anywhere else, even most 3 world countries, it is indeed snail mail 😳😡

I am hoping the last part of that gooberment code / personal identification stuff get here Monday too so i can order a new phone number and be online again on that within a few days.
But it seem identifying myself with the visa card i am paying my phone bills with are not enough any more, it is most likely Danish NSA demanding that so they are sure who it is they are recording.

The past 4 years my unlisted phone have been in some other persons name, not that it is hiding me. when i am the one paying the bill with my visa card.

'bama spent 1.5 billion to construct a new NSA faci!ity in Utah which according to Wikipedia can handle data in the exabytes range OR MORE! 1 EB is a quintillion! They have 60 k employees but couldn't stop a radical islamist from murdering partiers in a Florida night club. Gov't only cares about protecting itself!

I'd forgotten about that Top Gear, Clarkson raced the letter from Lands End in the south west of Britain to the north coast of the Orkney Islands.
But he should have started in the Scilly Islands which are even further south west (but have no car ferry) and finished on the north coast of the Shetland Islands (which would have required an over night car ferry). Of course it wouldn't have been much of a race if he had arrived the day after the letter!

I've never had to pay US customs for all of the stuff I've bought from China. I think that there are just too many packages for them to try to tax them all. I'm sure you'd pay import tax if you were buying mass quantities or something of really high value, but everything I've gotten has been under $300 anyways.

Anyways, first day with the camera it worked pretty well! It said it had V 1.0 of the firmware so I didn't try to upgrade it before heading to the mountains. The iPhone app worked fine as a remote when I tested it out at home the night before, but once I tried to use it on the mountain when I would try to capture a picture it would freeze the camera and I would have to remove the battery to restart it. The next day at home I tried upgrading the firmware and the iPhone app went back to working fine as a remote. We'll see if I run into the same issue again later. I had bought 2 extra batteries which I was glad I did because the batteries didn't seem to last too long. I wasn't keeping track of exactly how long they lasted and in the beginning I was trying to use the wifi and stuff so that could have killed it faster. The outside temp was about 1 C, so it was cold which I know has a negative effect on the batteries but it wasn't anything extreme. The only bad thing about swapping batteries is that the date and time is reset when you take the battery out. Hopefully there is a way they can fix that in the firmware.

I will upload my videos later today but the gyro stabilization worked great when the camera is pointed at myself but it looks a little more bumpy when I faced it away from myself. I was using a selfie stick the entire time, so I'll have to see how it works with a helmet mount next time. I also tried to get some 4k footage while snowboarding but without the stabilization it's pretty unwatchable because of how bumpy snowboarding can be. Hopefully they'll get the gyro stabilization in more resolutions with future updates.

Git 2 has a battrry on the pcb which maintains the date/time when you change batteries. Gitup replaced my pcb when my battery failed.

I wonder if my battery is dead or if the SJ7 pcb is lacking a battery...

Here's some action cam footage from my weekend trip to the mountains. All of these are 1080p 30fps with gyro turned on. I will try to post some of my 4k videos later.

Been watching me some winter x games this weekend, and i am picking up my SJ7 today 🙂

Maybe when the Chinese new year ends SJCam will address the date/time battery question?

sharpness appears on par with the pre-release video from Yi for the 4k+cam

gearbest has just shipping out my remote for the sj7star....

i'm sick of waiting, if gearbest send me not a message with a shipping date in the next 2 weeks i will cancel my oder and be done with sjcam.

sadly, cuz i be a fan of sjcam since sj4000.

We have seen several delays from SJCam,probably not gearbest fault!
I have found disappointment with gearbest's communication with buyers-no contact on weekends and frustrating ticket system!

thats why i said "i'm done with sjcam", not gearbest^^

ok, the comunication with gearbest is a little ****ty....but when it works it works.....i have it done twice and i works with the chatt.

Hi guys, We are finally back from the New Year holiday. I am looking forward to catching up on the threads on this forum.

Especially since we are improving SJ6 and SJ7 at the concurrently, please help us out and remember that if you have product suggestions, please use the SJ7 Request Form so everything is in one place. Once we have suggestions/fixes, we will translate for our firmware team. Using this form will speed up the firmware edits and keep progress organized.

In addition to the forum on the Official SJCAM site, we now have a private forum for SJ7 Testers Only.
