I bought the Nextbase 312GW dash can a few weeks ago. Just today there was an incident on the motorway and I pressed the button to save the file but when I got home the camera didn't seem to record anything for the last 15mins of my driving? Does anyone have any idea why it did not save the file? I am disappointed in this camera already 🙁

Those SanDisk cards are the most problematic in dash cameras. I would recommend trying a different card.

O I thought the Sandisk were good but which cards are best for dash cams? Ta

DOD / nextbase firmware engineers for tuning and testing their sofware they are using ADATA memory cards, so this would be most preferred card for their dashcams.

@pjos11

Have you changed anything from default settings?

What is your power supply arrangement?

Does your car have stop-start? (and if so, does that coincide with the last saved file?)

Hi I haven't really changed anything from the default setting. I used the hard wire kit that Halfords sold me this wires back to the cig lighter fuse at the board. Also no the car does not have stop start.

I have two of these cameras one in my van and one in the car. I was just out in the car and the camera seems to stop recording at around 2.50 mins? The timer just froze so I formatted the camera and since then it has recorded 5 files before I got home with no problems.

I am confised and don't know weather to bring the cams back to Halfords.

Thanks

What card are you using in your other camera? Try swapping cards (make sure to format again in each camera). Also, you said you have 2, are they the same model camera? If so, try swapping cameras to eliminate any wiring issue.

Hi all.

I'm new and a google search led me here.

I got a nextbase 312 with a 32gb sandisk card and it stops recording on almost every journey. Its driving me nuts!

Anyway your helpful thread above suggested the brand of SD card and as a test I brought the camera quality down from 1080 to 720 as I thought the write speed may not be fast enough on the card and after 1 day and several journeys it seems to be ok

I will order the suggested SD card and put it back to 1080 when it arrives to see how it goes.

This is the reason I love a good forum, thanks all

So when you say it stops recording is this usually at the end of the journey and how much are you missing? Are you removing the SD car or pulling the plug on the camera without switching it off first? By not switching off correctly you may be preventing it from writing the last section to the card.

When I start the car and drive, normally around 10 minutes into the journey it lights up and the recording counter stops.

I have to press record twice and it will record again and continue to do so for the rest of the journey.

It was hard wired and still done it, now it's in the 12v socket which powers down 5 minutes after the car is turned off. I tried both ways to try and eliminate the fault.

I'm wondering if I can update the unit as it still don't make sense to me.

Every journey, around 10 minute in. Recording loops are set to 5 mins I think. When it does stop, it's at a random point like 1:47 for example, not 5:00.

Mark.

First thing is to try another card. SanDisk card can cause the issues your describing.

Thanks. Any good (recent) recommendations?

Mark

The Transcend Premium card Russ331 recommends in post #6 seems to work well in almost every cam. It's my personal fave as well- a great card at good prices for what you get.
