new ThiEYE T5e firmware update

Thanks for the file and the tricks with the name! I have succeeded to downgrade the camera! the camera works until that i set the video resolution to 1080p. after that button didn't work and to turn off i need to remove the battery. I just noticed that the camera stuck when the 1080p is set because EIS is on..

Good news indeed.
At least we now know how to get passed the problem if the new f/w 170228 fails and cam freezes.

Problem with 170211 is the cam "resets" to default when powered OFF but at least it now works.
Version 170228 was designed mainly to fix this but they made a lot of changes including filname different and 2 ways of upgrading, Camera or PC depending on what f/w the cam is upgraded from.

Previous version 170112 is OK and doesn't reset. Here is f/w link if you have reset problem. I wouldn't try UPGRADING again though ;)

samnup maybe this will help you.
I've uploaded all firmware files for T5e from 1st that came.

Link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/bey9yp0vt5k8h/ThiEYE

I've bought my T5e and it has 161206 firmware that works fine.
I've upgraded my T5 from 161206 version to latest 170228 version by windows method and all works great.

So maybe you succeed.
You should write to ThiEYE support, they have answered at all my @ :)

Try the next DOWNGRADE to 170112 [from 170211] now your cam is unbricked from trying upgrade 170228 (release 2017/03/06) OR try WINDOWS version 170228 (NOT CAMERA) and maybe it will work this time. Now we know the older version unbricks cam.

Interesting comparison of cams hardware. Andoer AN7000 is remarkably similar to ThiEYE T5/T5e. same chipset A12s75 (A12LS75) Ambarella do not have an A12LS75 on their site, that I can find. As the A12s75 is noted as Low Power by Ambarella, adding "L" would seem a marketing difference between brands.

One has DDR build-in, another didn't.

Andoer has no DDR3 memory? Didn't know that.
The ThiEYE T5/T5e uses a ChipSip CT49 Multi Chip Package Memory that has both NAND Flash and DDR3 SDRAM in one chip.

Edit: Also Andoer AN7000 has the larger 61 x 42 x 23 mm waterproof case like the ThiEYE T5/T5e.
Standard size case 57 x 39 x 27 mm 61 - slide lock type.
All other specs same, see comparison Andoer C5 Pro vs AN7000 HERE

LOL not surprised but this is using the Panasonic MN34110 sensor 14mp which is a nice touch. Add an old EKEN case and H8R accessories. ;)

This has night vision IR mode and a WiFi wrist remote too!

Meknic A12 4K 30fps WiFi Action Camera a bargain at Gearbest LINK HERE

is the panasonic the better sensor over the IMX117 is it? would be interesting to see how it perform.

Seems very similar to IMX078 12.4 Mp 4K (4072H × 3046) at 20fps but Panasonic MN34110 sensor only 18 frames per second at 4K full resolution and listed best at 1080p60fps. IMX117 is faster 35fps for better support of 4K.
Interesting to see how they compare though.

MN34110 sensor PDF HERE

Edit:
The larger the effective pixel area is where stabilization comes in. At FHD (1080p60) the Panasonic may be able to have slightly better stabilization.

Thanks for the info mate. Considering they are charging same price as thieye it seems like a ripoff since it can't do full 4K at 30fps. Is a step above the novatek nt96660 combo but geez haha

Agree. The A12S75 chip is better than Novatek based cams but not as good as ThiEYE T5 with the A12/IMX117 sensor combination.

EDIT:

*** See Meknic official response. They are confirming frame rate is less than IMX078. At least they are honest.

Q: Tom Smith -why doesn't this camera have the higher frame rates 1080/120 2k/60..

A: Meknic Official - now it is Panasonic image sensor, IMX078 have more frames.

NOTE: This is clearly built using the EKEN H8R case and accessories kit with standard RF2.4 Remote.

Dang is just the A118 / G1W dash cameras all over again where someone grabs the case then rips it off in their own way. I will probably give it a miss in the review queue - it looked so promising

Yeah, probably not worth it. More and more coming like this: LINK for Sinecam SC128Pro Yet another Ambarella A12S75 chipset, IMX117 cam.

is that an action camera or a flotation device? :p and SinceCam, since when? :p

Well at least it has the hardware to do proper 4K, but that it only has a screen on the front is a bit disconcerting, plus the possibly awkward placement of the buttons.

Looks like an old Walkman Cassette Player. LOL Hard to get accessories too I'd imagine.
Front LCD ... perfect for "Selfies" Haha
How would you frame while shooting forward? Bit like the old GoPro's and no big deal for a cam strapped to a surfboard or motorbike but that's about it.
Tried "BUY" but no response on their site? Unknown price.
Underwater Housing Sincecam SC128

NOTE
Sincecam posted a pic with a Cubiccam inside! :D

EDIT: Jeasun report CubicCam has SONY IMX078 1/2.3” CMOS 12.40 MP used.
