I don’t have parking mode on.
I noticed maybe 1 out of 6 times the next day the dashcam is on and it’s frozen and it won’t turn off and I have to manually unplug it to reset it.

I have a bmw x3m. Not sure what might be causing this issue. To the point where I might just simply consider unplugging the cable to avoid this issue.

How are you powering the camera?

What make and model memory card are you using?

I have the same problem. The only thing that is consistent is that there are files in SD Card. I usually install a formatted or brand new SD Card before turning on the camera. The days I turn off the camera and forget to swap the SD Card are usually when the camera crash occurs.

Have you tried to delay the hand over to parking guard ?
I think the maximum time are like 90 seconds

I am turning off the camera and turning it back on. It does not go into parking mode, if the car is turned off and the camera is turned on. Parking mode is not engaged. parking mode is not switched into or out of.

O so i see,,,,, curse my selective reading. 😴

I have a similar issue. Sometimes I want to lock a recording the button doesn’t respond.

Not sure if it’s related but when driving around (with all voice notifications on) occasionally the camera will suddenly give the beeping/not recording noise, and then maybe 20s later announce it has started recording again.

I’m using a Sandisk 256GB high endurance currently. I thought about maybe going up to the Max Performance version.. but it would suck to get a new card and find out it didn’t make a difference.

The SanDisk High Endurance card is known to cause issues in the A139 Pro. Best to go with the Max Endurance or Viofo brand card.

Hmm. Good to know.

I did have a VIOFO card in my A129Pro before someone stole it, but looks like the 256GB version is harder to find in country.

I think I’ll the Max Endurance a try. Thanks!

Anything against the Sandisk Extreme v30 u3 that is listed as recommend on Viofo's FAQ page for the A139 Pro?

As I have that card available locally, I'm thinking if I shouldn't buy one (256gb around $40)

Should be fine.

What card do you use? Please confirm if it can work well if detaching the rear camera.

Got my SanDisk Max Endurance 256GB and gave it a whirl on the weekend. Drove around for about 3hrs, no random rebooting/stop-start recording. Really early to say for sure, but so far seems good. Hopefully this will fix it for me for permanently.

This card.
Issue is that I can’t properly troubleshoot this because it happens randomly.

when it drains the battery the camera is frozen because it stays on and the only way to reboot it is to unplug the power and replug it.

The extreme plus is specially NOT recommended on the Viofo website.
So it's either the card or the issue happens because the camera will keep recording the whole time.

If you disable parking mode, the camera will stay in "driving" mode until the hardwire kit detects a voltage drop from the car battery.
Apparently, it somehow gets an error after some time.

For how long is your car parked, when the issue happens?

My recommendation would be to enable parking mode with the 90s delay and the shortest parking time.
That way, when you park the car, the cam will go into parking mode after 90s and then shut off after the parking timer.

I'm not sure if it will switch on, when you start the car though. I'm not using the hardwire kit, my skoda fabia has always-on power on the cigarette plug, and I have to switch on the camera manually every time I start driving (or unplug/re-plug the cable).
Works fine though 🙂

Update for me.. ever since switching to the SanDisk MAX Endurance card, my issues have disappeared. No weird random recording started/stopped while driving.

Locking recordings seems to be working fine as well. (I did also get the Bluetooth button - like it A LOT. Don’t have to fiddle trying to find the tiny button on the camera while driving).
