Testing A810

Yeah for accident recording it is fine i recon, just used to other stuff, hence i forgot to output my video as 25 fps.
 
The video stuttering is from the original footage.
It's frame rate is claimed 25fps @4K

Examining raw video I've found it is duplicating frames but not consistent.
It is more like 22-23 fps with the dropped frames being replaced with a good frame eg duplicating a frame.

Something is out of sync.
I'm suprised this Dashcam has been on the market for a year.
It's a nice unit but the stuttering lets it down.
I'm sure it can be fixed via firmware (hope it can) Viofo fixed theirs.
 
Testing the 70mai power pack with the A810 at the moment, and learned a big disadvantage i assume of all such power packs.

When it is cold, the pack will not charge before it get warmer, now i have mine in the glove box and i have to drive for at least 30 minutes for it to start charging after becoming warm enough to do that. but my long drives are just 2 X 45 minutes, and often not in the same day.
So my 4 weekly longer drives ( 2 X out - 2 X home ), well not even enough to get 2 LEDs of power on the power pack, before in warmer weather it was plenty to keep me going.

So i am thinking should such power packs not have a heater, that in cold weather will heat the pack fairly fast so charging can begin as soon as possible, CUZ if not, well you at least have to drive 2 hours strait to get the power pack heated and then charged.


I will try to move my pack to a place where it get some heat from the car heater

I wish it had the option of charging it via usb to be honest, that would make things a lot easier..

Okay before i forget, a power pack update from today.

So the power bank having charged very little on my drive home Saturday i set off today with a hours old MSG in the APP that the camera shut down due to low power, and sure enough starting my car in +12 deg C temperatures i had 1 flashing LED.
But as the power pack was charging full tilt in the nice " warm " weather this soon changed, and arriving at my little sisters place after a good 40 minute drive i had 3 solid LED and the 4 one flashing.
So going home a couple of hours later the power pack was of course soon at MAX charge.

And everything will be good for a few days as we are back in the + degrees in Denmark until Friday or something like that.

So ! As i suspect nothing in particular really CUZ i think this is very much a issue for all of the dashcam power packs.

I will try to see if i can somehow relocate my power pack to a warmer place Tuesday at my friends place CUZ winds too high to enjoy a little relaxation behind the rifle.

The system like other 70mai dashcams have a not super impressive rear camera ( not bad ) but on the BIG + side you can pair it with the new accessory RC14 rear camera, which is the 1080p resolution starvis 2 sensor.
I am not privy to the price of this starvis 2 rear camera, so hard to say if it is a worth while investment to make.

The footage seem very nice, but i am not able to compare it to something similar in another brand as i simply do not have that, but i think it look damn fine.

I have not yet had the footage under the " microscope " so things like double exposures or missing frames might be hiding in there, but whipping up the below video i did not notice anything, but that could be luck CUZ if / when cameras do have these things its not like it is every 10 frames, so you have to " 1 frame " back and forth in footage to really tell.

Also this driving footage are not the best, i prefer to park 90 degree to a road with traffic on it, that way going over footage missing or double frames are more easy to see.

Hello Kamkar, in yr post you talk about the new accessory RC14 rear camera. Is that cam already available somewhere online?
 
Yes i think it should be for sale, the sample i was given was in nice packing and very much looking like a ready product.

Maybe you have a 512GB micro sd card? The thing is, some users have told me that it works in the new firmware 1.6.99ww. But so far they can't check the volume that is allocated for normal records (the "Normal" folder).

I have the A810 and a 512GB memory card, if @kamkar doesn't have one, can I help out?

Explain to me what you need done and I'll give it a go.

Yes. Thank you for your responsiveness.

1. Update the A810 firmware to version 1.6.99ww
2. Insert a 512GB card into the A810 and format it via menu.
3. Set a high compression ratio and 4k resolution (3840*2160) in the video settings
4. Fill the memory card with a regular recording. It doesn't matter if it's a road or your house. 1 camera or two. The main thing is to fill the memory card until the old entries are deleted.
5. Insert the memory card into the PC and tell it how many hours of recording there are in a normal recording. How much space does the "Normal" folder take up? How much free space is available on the memory card?
 
I do not have any 512 GB cards at the moment.

Here is the results.
It has taken some time to create 512GB of files. Over 24 hours!

With firmware 1.6.99ww
It writes to a micro SD card with a size of 512GB
Actual usable space = 476 GB
Total space used = 435.5 GB

Remainder = 40.5 GB

I'm not certain it has used all its space as far as how the firmware handles it.
