Dash Cam
+1 decade, many dashcams
I have gotten a couple of 70Mai cameras to play with ( A 510 - A810 )
And also the new EC14 rear camera ( 1080p starvis 2 )

Needless to say so far a few days in, it have been a pleasure with the 2 systems

I will also be able to test the smart side of these as i also have a 4g modem / hard wire kit, the multiple ( 9 ) options it give for cut off voltage are excellent.

Whipped up a fast 4 in one video, but sadly forgot to do something about the sound, so be warned of dual not quite in sync sound.

As you can see the new RC14 camera sure do capture light, almost too much of a good thing, but this can be tweaked.

Okay i have just whipped up a daytime highway plate capture video from front and rear cameras.
Looking at the footage it look a bit blocky here and there, i think it might be a little bitrate starved on both cameras.

Also A510 memory card compatibility testing so far.

Kingston canvas select plus - black - OK
Adata Premier pro . black green - OK
PNY PRO Elite. - grey black - OK
Samsung EVO plus. White - OK
Sandisk extreme pro. Black -red - OK
Kingston Canvas Go plus. - black blue - OK
Adata high endurance. - black red - OK
Sandisk extreme plus. gold red - OK
Lexar professiona. grey - Black - OK
PNY XLR8. white red - OK
Silicon Power 3D NAND. white - brown - OK
Silicon Power elite. blue - yellow - red - NOT OK ( seem to have stopped recording during some 1 hour recording sessions )

Lesser resolution video are upscaled to 4K ( H.265 - 50 mbit ) in post.

Rear camera the new RC14 1080p starvis 2 sensor.

Same time recorded on the A810 system with RC12 rear camera.

The system are performing well otherwise, still have not gotten a SIM card to test the 4G part.

The A510 in my car which is currently the one i will be using for parkig guard testing with the 4G hardwire kit.

Well it will be powered by this and not the lead acid battery in my car.

70mai power pack.webp

Install was a breeze THX to a nice manual and diagram, and of course me having some DIY skills to draw upon.
I decided to use the old fuse taps i already had, but as these was both on 10 A circuits and the 70mai power pack can draw 11 A i moved the VCC to a 15 A circuit, and so far it have held up nicely.

Also while i was at it in the horrible humid heat, and occasional rain, i tore out a few more old Wires i found in the car, the main unit from the old K2S side system are also out now, but still need to remove the 2 camera wires, that go thru the B pillar and rear doors to the camera mounted on the fixed door glass.

That will have to wait, CUZ on a side note,,,,,, from my exhaust system, it is saying " 12 years and i am done for " so in 10 minutes i will be browsing the internet for a new exhaust system for my car.

hello,
I have a 4g hardwire kit and I can't quite figure it out.
Yellow is permanent current and red is ignition current? sorry for the stupid question

oh forgot car is a fiat cinquecento built in 1993 and I have connected the cam A510

As i recall yes, the wires are also labels, at least they was on mine, but i will check for you when i go on a short drive soon

Yes bad memory. 😳
Red is VCC and the yellow wire is ACC

Finally got a SIM card today, had to go to a #2 service provider and have then make a SIM for me on behalf of my provider CUZ they can not reach me by mail it seem.

At first it did not work, but i had to put card in old phone, fire it up and under security make it so the phone do not ask for PIN code on each startup.

Threw together a fast phone screen capture to demo remote viewing.

I have yet to figure out hos notifications work and the cloud part work.
I am now running parking guard all the time and i have also changed sensitivity from low to medium, related to that the 70mai power bank do just fine, the few times i have gotten back to the car when it have been parked a long time, i always find at least 2 of the 5 power bar LEDs are on.
I have set the 9 low voltage settings to the absolute lowest of those now that i have the power bank, which i assume protect itself from too deep discharge.

Why do i have a CCTV camera on my parked car ?
Well it is simple, where it is parked, for instance parking guard in a dashcam would be of no use, at least in regard to identifying.

As documentation i submit this screen grab from my phone i have just pulled from the front camera ( IMX 675 ) sensor, that are top of the line when it come to low light these days.
But as you can see, only large objects moving would be visible, and that's mainly thanks to the LED light in the back yard.

On the other hand shooting for low light performance, in the form of long exposure photography, well things bighted up a lot, but of course any human movement would just result in a massive motion blur.
But ! the skies do not move that fast in the grand perspective of things, so the light from the lonely LED light really light up things with a 30 second exposure time, so building / trees are like daytime.

Unfortunately, I discovered that with the 70mai 4g hardwire kit + A510, slamming the door in an old car sets off an alarm. The power consumption is quite high. I don't know how to set this up.

This is normal as the hand over from regular mode to parking are instant, so i also get these "events " it is just you slamming the door.
Other brands have a option for delay up to a minute or two, before camera change to parking guard, this give you ample time to leave the car, and it would only be if you have something in the back that you might be too long and so again get a " event "

I run my A510 on 70mais new power pack, it is just 7500 MAH so not huge, but it keep my camera and 4G powered for at least 24 hours.

There is an option in the settings: a delay of 5 minutes so that the shock sensor does not work. The timelapse will be recorded immediately.

Could you tell me which battery it is and where I can get it?

It is the new 70mai power pack, it should be selling several places, i was sent mine from 70mai to test,

Pretty expensive, is there an alternative?
Alternatives from other manufacturers:
BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery (B-130X) - $360
Thinkware iVolt Xtra Battery Pack - $394
BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 - $359

70mai Battery Pack for Dash Cam - $200-250

Come on, the battery from 70mai is the most affordable battery for a DVR powered by LiFePO4 batteries..

Pressing the event button on the A510 give you a 5 second buffer, and then the recording stop 20 seconds or so later.
That is not how i would like events to be handled, here i much prefer the 2 saved file regime of the old SG systems.

A510 now burning thru memory card collection at one 256 GB card every 24 hours, 1 hour record - 15 min pause, this go on for almost 24 H / day

I am optimistic this will be just as memory card tolerant as the A810 turned out to be.
