A510 testing

A510 now burning thru memory card collection at one 256 GB card every 24 hours, 1 hour record - 15 min pause, this go on for almost 24 H / day

I am optimistic this will be just as memory card tolerant as the A810 turned out to be.
Do you do anything apart from memory cards testing lol

No not much, the really geeky stuff i leave for others.
I am just a dedicated user that want to learn so i can empower other to make good decisions, not least in regard to dashcam purchase.

I think, moving forward, the first th9ing i will do getting a new camera is to test all memory cards to find the ones it will not use at all.
Then with that out of the question i can carry on with the ones that at least stand a chance

The A510 and 810 for that matter, just fine systems, i have had no problems using them.
Downsides would be they are battery systems, so anyone looking for a system to install and then just forget more or less, expecting endless years of operation, it will be hard to recommend them, not least if person live in a hotter region.
Also both not in the top bracket in regard to low light captures, but they do have the good sensors so for sure not inferior systems.
You could also say the old rear cameras is a downside, but at least now you can add a better one in the starvis 2 1080p camera, but it is of course a extra cost.

I will also argue that rear cameras should be 1440p ones, but in EU territory 1080p will work OK.

The new 70mai RC14 rear camera doesn’t seem to be compatible with dashcam models older than the X800. While the review version might work, the recently released RC14 does not.

Regarding the internal battery, I live in Vietnam, where summers are very hot. However, I haven’t heard of any incidents involving dashcam batteries—at least not yet. Typically, they just need to be replaced after a few years. Theoretically, there is a risk of overheating and fire, but it’s likely well-mitigated to prevent such incidents. That said, everyone has different levels of risk tolerance.

I fail to see how that helps other users by doing the least amount of work possible for review units. I really don't.

I'm sure there are plenty of other users (plenty that have demonstrated already here on DCT) that will take your place.

that will take your place.
And i will gladly give it up, and it is also happening, vifo do not send me a system, Vantrue the same i think.
I have always said that i dont do reviews, which is what seem to be on mosts agenda, and brands should focus on the hyper dedicated. I dont think i have blown smoke up anyone’s,,,, behind.

I am as always just interested in a couple of things.
1: is the system able to do what it should do. ( record, change to / from parking guard ASO )
2: Is the footage usable ( cant it capture a plate under regular highway speeds which here is 80 kmh )
3: Is they system able to last, i personally expect 4 years of a system, though i do not test for that long 2 years i think is the max i have run a system in the car, most often they get transferred to static testing in south facing window to simulate windscreen.

I have also requested a few times that brands sending systems ask more of the people they send them to, CUZ i do think they are entitled to, at least to some degree.
But even from the brands there seem to be little oversight, or actual plan, something like that would be nice and make things more structured for people.

The people that do test every little things, it is nice and i read it, but really i am not interested in many of their findings, but of course if some system is running super / extraordinary hot, well i will have a hard time recommending that as a option to anyone.

Also another thing that see me loosing interest in general is, the stress and depression i was diagnosed with a decade ago, it is probably still there, along with the severe sleep disorder.
But it seem like me and doctors, we dont even speak the same language, last my DOC did something i had again told him i have a problem falling asleep ( hyper active brain ) and he had me tested for Apnea which is you can fall asleep but just do not sleep very well, when i finally do fall asleep after 6-7-8-9-10 hours of spinning in my bed i sleep like a rock,,,,,, but just for 3-4-5 hours.

And no i do not have apnea, i am fairly soundless in the few hours i sleep. ( i have recorded myself sleeping,,,,, with a dashcam )

I will add.

The things people investigate like power usage ASO, i think the brands them selv could easy provide / already know, but it is information only the most geeky are interested in, the common user is jest interested in the basics of a dashcam.
But it is totally OK to geek out on things, a decade or two ago i would have been able to ramble on for hours and hours on new Computer chipsets and their capabilities and what not, back then i almost build a new computer every year, and i was a writer on the back then foremost PC related web site in the country.

Dashcams i have never deeply geeked out on, others have gone far deeper than i have.

In the old days when 1080p was barely a thing there was also a lot more to look out for, some brands would use inferior materials, so for instance the lens socket, 1 ray of sunshine on the camera and BAM your lens was out of focus due to a socket made of recycled flip flops.
OOF have generally not been a issue for very long now.

I have also often run into issues with a new system, but as others have already discovered than and reported it, well i have seen no reason to do the same.

I could also write a praise on the systems i have gotten, and praise that they do what they was supposed to do, but again i see no reason to do that, i would prefer to focus on the limitations or flaws with a system instead, CUZ that is the important thing for someone that look for a system.
And today there fortunately are not very many serious flaws with systems.

But sure if you are looking for a system with optimal parking guard duration, and so very low power consumption, then power use would be interesting to you in some degree.

I am personally glad i can make do with parking guard on a timer, CUZ if you are the kind of potential buyer looking for total coverage all the time, every day, then you have a lot of decisions to make, for instance if you think low bitrate is the coolest ever parking guard mode, well then you can buy any system more or less CUZ that mode is not super low power.
And if you do want low power, well you cant even get a buffered G-sensor CUZ the camera are in a too deep sleep state, and what you should be looking for is wake up times for systems CUZ as fast as possible will probably be preferred.

I am a sucker for low bitrate, and i can easy do that on a 3 hour timer, or a very high Low voltage cut off is there are no timer in the system

But i will underline that i think the most people looking for a dashcam will just want a good one in regard to image quality - a good price on it - suit their needs in regard to install / stealth, and one that will endure the elements and time.
All the other stuff is just us nerds geeking out.
And i will be able to help in that regard i think, if not i might be wasting my time.

Like right now, there is +800 guests here and just 6 users, this mean 800 is probably looking for information / recommendations and just 6 of us geeks to give that

A510 performed flawless, no catastrophic events and no bad quirks noticed.

Do you recommend a119 mini or a229 plus from viofo over the a510/a810

Good afternoon. Is there any third-party application for editing the firmware of the A510 in order to increase the bitrate? I previously had the 70mai Dash Cam Pro, and there was such an application available for it.
tnx
