Z60 Pro Version?

Thought the same thing.
If you look at the spec comparison he posted above, the 4k resolution is actually mentioned.
3k appears to be used to get 60fps.
They might not be able to have 4k60 for some reason.
Probably bandwidth. Perhaps w/ Front + Rear it doesn't have enough cache for the frame rate. So I guess they drop it to 3K 60, so there is no loss of data...? Perhaps heat (dissipation) is a factor, processing that much bandwidth in a tight little box?? Plus, if parked in the sun. The Vantrue S1 Pro would exceed 65'c with ambient 21'c in the shade.
I know the newer double 4K dash cams and the ones that support 60fps at back and front have MUCH thicker cabling. I have seen people having a real gripe and complaining about it.

So there is no HDR / WDR in 3K mode?

PS. why do we have to use the horizontal pixels all the time? Manufacturers don't seem to know what they're selling and blend 4K + 1080P or 2160P + FHD. πŸ˜„

Nice graph mate! I fit an Ancel BM200 Pro to my battery. It has wireless Solar/USB powered display for your dash. It shows SoC, SoH, Cranking voltage/amps, the instantaneous mAh charge, etc etc etc. 10/10. Just no history!
After <insert long story w/ battery issues and no dashcam connected for 6m> and Mitsubishi not doing anything after 3 visits, I bought and upgraded to Ancel BM300 Bluetooth battery monitor. 10/10 too. But no SoH!

Highly recommended if you want full history of your battery (Voltage, State of Charge and Temperature (engine bay). The only thing it is missing is the State of Health (SoH). I don't understand why they would not include that!

I have my Garmin "Smartbox v3" set to 12.5v or 12.4v, but car has been dropping to 65-70% state of charge. Even w/ both Dashcam disconnected, I am thinking it might be the smart box... Might try a generic OBD 'smartbox' instead, and see what happens.

Is that the Z60 app? And what voltage or SOC your battery was dropping to after 6 / 12 / 24 hours?? Do you know how many AH (amp hours) your battery is? 60? 40?
Thanks mate! πŸ˜€

It says it can run for 8 days from car battery at 1fps and switch to video within 1 second, with a cool chart in the app:

Hey guys, Not to "argue" or disagree with anyone, but why almost does everyone obsess over 4K? It is like when 4K TVs first came out and everyone rushed out to buy 50hz 4K screens which couldn't play DVD's, Blu-ray or Xbox games as were so choppy panning or in action sequences.

I really don't think 4K is important. We should be focusing on more important factors like lens aperture / size for letting in light and the image sensor. My 6 year old Navman MiVue 1100XL DC has a 2.3" sensor (not 1/2.3"!!!) which is 2K front 60fps & 2K back 30fps.
60FPS is SO IMPORTANT. People don't seem to understand the compression in many of these cameras causes so much deterioration and distortion, as the frames are morphed together, where you see all sorts of artefacts and loss of detail.

I am struggling to pay $300 for something that is basically no better than my old set of dashcam.
I returned the Vantrue S1 Pro - awful old-tech feel, dodgy WiFi, poor quality. Returned RedTiger F7NP.

But I do like the RedTiger F17 Elite + DDPai Z60 Pro + Rove R2-4K Dual... πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
I don't know.... Maybe I've hit information overload. 6m of so much wasted time - mainly due to incomplete and wrong specs by manufacturers, Amazon listings, and video reviews that do not even review the specs. I've been down the 4K "rabbit hole" and I found my way out! πŸ˜„

I honestly don't think people need 4K. Every 4K 25fps and 30fps Dashcam I have seen has very-very poor detail on number plates for moving objects. Only static objects are legible (identical quality in my Starvis 1 MiVue 1100XL DC). However, 2K (FHD) 60FPS Dashcam have all had much clearer and cleaner footage, with street signs and number plates visible - even faces on the side of the street. I have made an effort to compare apples for apples - all having Starvis v1 / v2 sensors (IMX3,4,6 series). Just extracting footage over WiFi is so slow.

I am really disappointed by the amount of compression in these devices, especially in 2025 now. Seems like I have to spend $450 for 2x 4K dashcam (and drop them to 2K, 2.5K, 2.7K 60FPS) which really isn't viable.

Any other recommendations that are better than Z60 Pro? for H.265 (decent quality compression - not like S1 Pro), 2K+ 60FPS and 512GB storage support? If 512GB is a limiting factor, I guess I can deal with 256GB. But some Dashcam support 1TB, so I don't understand why manufacturers are pushing such old tech... I guess that's what Amazon is mainly for πŸ˜„ Supposed "deals"...

Cheers guys!
4k is absolutely worth it.
It allows you to further zoom in.
60fps sounds nice but the benefits over 30fps are small.
Especially since at night it will revert to 30fps with HDR enabled.

A329, A329T, T800 can all freeze frame plates of oncoming traffic with a total speed of 200kmh.
4k allows me to zoom in and see the plates further away when there is less lateral movement.

Most cameras will happily take 512Gb SD cards nowadays.

Cheers mate. How can I check my Garmin 1100XL is reverting to 30fps at night without downloading the footage?
I don't see why it would need to.
Most DC's I've looked at constantly state 256gb max. Even one had 128GB and 256GB internal storage with card slot for transferring data only, not for recording. Makes sense as is MUCH quicker having the memory on-board.

Wow... really? 200kph? You sure the other cars aren't reversing? πŸ˜„
So would the 2xx series be suitable? I would prefer getting something that is capable of that higher frame rate, but can always reduce later if it really makes that much a difference.

Do you know what the size of the image sensors are with the A329?
I am comparing against 2/3". So far I have only seen one DC advertising its sensor size at 1/2.x" or something. It's got me sceptical about upgrading my ooold tech. That's why I'm asking all the pedantic questions 😜 haha

You either check in your settings or when downloading the footage.
However only the latest highend Dashcams offer 4k60.
I don't think your Garmin has it.

I would recommend to consider the A329 series instead of the A229.
The image sensor of the A329 is the same as the Z60 Pro.
It's the Sony Starvis 2 IMX678.

I got the Z60 Pro a few days. You will see content soon if you want to wait for that.

It will record at 4k 30 with HDR!
Or 3k 60fps without HDR.

I have a Viofo A229 Plus with the optional Viofo RTC300 telephoto camera (both have CPL filter added) at the front and they are a superb combination for every scenario to read number plates because the Viofo app. allows the adjustment of the "exposure value" on both cameras and that is crucial at night to avoid burn out number plates. I recently purchased a DDPAI Z60 PRO with CPL filter and was interested how would it perform against the Viofo A229 Plus. Obviously the 4K of the DDPAI helps during the day in general. At night it is nice in general but there is one issue with it about reading the number plates. My car has a strong LCD front light and it can make the readings of the number plates at night difficult due the burning out effect (over exposure) and in the case of the Viofo the app. can help the situation as it allows the reduction of the exposure value. In case of the DDPAI there is no "exposure value settings" feature in the app. and that is sorely missed in my opinion. The DDPAI app. needs an upgrade to add that all important feature to make the DDPAI Z60 PRO fulfill its potential. Right now I am using the DDPAI Z60 PRO as my rear camera without the CPL filter as my rear windshield is tinted/darkened. It is perfect for that. With the proper DDPAI app. update it could be a stellar front camera.
