Thanks everyone for your feedback.
So as suggested, I woke the screen by only pressing the menu button once. Once screen is on I pressed and held menu button for 5s and the dashcam powered down.
Not too bad. I still prefer before the fw update when I could just press and hold menu button from a black screen but it's not the end of the word, I'm happy with this.
We thought most of users don't need to power off the camera manually.
But there are many complaints about entering the menu, that's why we changed this.
Just providing a different perspective.
I power off my dashcam every single night. In a year I power down my dashcam easily 300 times (each day) minus when I'm on holiday or the car isn't sleeping in my garage where I will leave the dashcam on.
In comparaison, I probably use the lock video button only 5 times/ year.
I never interact with the dashcam (as intended). The only interaction is pretty much turning it off. Next day when I start the car, dashcam powers up by itself and then throughout the day will switch in and out parking mode by itself. It's only at the end of the day when I park the car in my garage than I interact with the dashcam to turn it off.
That's maybe why I felt "strongly" about the change
😆
But to reiterate, I don't mind the new procedure, it's just the first time I didn't know I had to wake the screen. Make sure to update the owner's manuals to reflect this and soon people will get used to it.
