AV out is SD only, live view is not supported over HDMI
My mistake, I meant 0801 not A118. In this video (at 19 minute) you can see HDMI real time video from a 0801, while the camera is recording:
.
Okay, so the 0801 HDMI out is more or less an exception. It's still a 720p output, which is not bad if you have a 720p capable small LCD around.although it outputs over HDMI it drops down to SD resolution, this may only work in certain firmware versions so you'd need to confirm how it works in any current version, the one reviewed here is a very old version that records in TS format, hasn't been used on these for well over a year now

SD is the better solution. At least price/performance-wise. A118 will do nicely.
Is the video output widescreen (16:9)?
Would a monitor like this be OK (480*272):
Missed that, thanks for the correction.it's not 720p, it's 576i (720 pixels wide) so yes it's widescreen but it's standard definition
- what cable do I need for video out?
- what are the video out fps, resolution and aspect ratio?
- is it compatible with a monitor like this one?
Normally the AV out can support the Monitor you showed to me, but we are not sure, because we didn't it with that monitor.
The resolution is 1080P 30fps.
