Does such Dashcam exist ?

After trying so many combinations out there..

The a119s comes closest with the sony imx291, but imho the 323 is more natural looking overall, even though I'm sure viofo used the 291 purposefully as its more sensitive to infrared.

Anyone know of such a cam ?

Ambarella preferred, but novatek's fine. hahaha

The IMX323 only supports 1080p at 30fps. You'll need to look for a different sensor if you want 60fps.

Didn't know that, thx tony.

Is it due to the exposure time required on these sensors ?

I think it is that the data bus is too slow to get all the data transferred, it is a fairly old sensor, although still a good one, the IMX323 is an updated version of the old IMX 322 in smaller packaging but otherwise compatible.

60fps is not necessary for dashcam footage anyway, unless you have a race car. More important is the sensitivity so that you can have short exposure times to reduce motion blur, the imx291 has a big advantage there and that is the reason it is used in the A119s.

Sigh... we have the technology, it just costs more than $100 , and we don't want the headache of busted windows.. hahahaha

It almost feels futile to compare the quality of dash cams at times, because they're all kinda-crummy.

Even with Viofo's excellence in balancing the hardware, in moderately cloud cast days, license plates become quite obscured..

Dont get too focused on the small stuff like license plates, it dont take much to turn those into a nightmare.
