In the last 3 years, I’ve been stalked. I wish I knew the who and why.
Different cars but same paper plates. Yes, I’ve looked into that. I’m a mom of a very special little girl.

Had an awesome dash cam previously and it took a beating in the High Desert climate.110 degrees and it died.

I’m a retired Personal Bodyguard and dog trainer. Well, my stalker got smarter as did I aka random U turns.

I’m now looking at buying a 64 or 128 GB front and rear dash cam so I have evidence to put a stop to this nonsense. Yes, add night vision.

Hubby is aware of it and his take is let them follow you. Along with if you see them behind you, stop the car and get out with the cell phone. Take pics..

That all sounds great, but if I have my child in the car and decide to do that. The trauma after the fact would be worse on her.

Been shopping for a Front and rear night vision dash cam, with out looping. I carry 4 to 5 32 GB’s TF cards in my purse. Yes, I live in Cali.

I used to have 2 extending steel batons, went out of state and the nice people at TSA took it out and made it shorter no explanation or paper’s.
Gestopo tactics comes to mind.

I can buy a polive grade stun gun/wired with prongs but I can’t buy a baton...hmm.
Is it me or am I living in a crazy state. Yes, I’m also well aware I can get a CCP.

My hands are registered and not into caring a side arm. I don’t want to traumatize my child.

Thus, I’m resorting to a front and rear (so, I know what they or he looks like) night vision dash cam.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Stalkers here often employ cheap GPS trackers on vehicles, you might want to look / sweep for that.

Personally with my cameras and experience with them i would for sure go for some good video of the person, and then i would put it online though that's not really legal to do here in Denmark.
I can film all i want in the public space, the problem arise if sharing in public, but i still do that to the day a judge tell me not to, by then my approach to poor drivers will change and i am sorry to say the police and media will feel that.

Your mind are always the best weapon.

I’ve already swept my truck. I do my own little thing, switch out chips (yes, I’m a nerd) and I waste time with V8’s that like to race me... I build Harley’s, yes I’m a woman and married to a man, I’m also in great shape.

I’ve gone thru evasive driving methods and no matter what, they (again, not sure if it’s guy/gal or a cadre) do there best and find me.

No social media at all in our home (Does Twitter count?) And yet it continues, I maybe old aka in my 50’s, but I look like late 30’s.

The officer I spoke to said “A Crime has not been committed and you don’t know who it is. What do you want us to do?” Not arrest me, when I defend myself. I thought that was fair, Sheriffs didn’t think so...

As soon as I can get a look at this cretin. I will be back with pictures of it.

It started with a call, when I was at the market I was asked for my number at the register I looked around before I gave it out. Apparently this thing over heard it. It called my home n hubby answered (A puzzled look) handed the phone to me.

I have a deep voice and very distinctive (Think Demi More). I was told I’ll be raped soon.... Great a stalker with rape on its mind. What’s next? Manson gets resurrected. SMH

Im in my 50ties as well or rather just started on those, not sure if i look 30ties but my brain signal 20ties as it have for the past 30 years and my body signal 70ties wich it have been doing for 5 years or so.
Maybe thats why i got early retirement at the tender age of 50 :sick:

Probably not easy to do, but keep your wits / situational awareness and dont let that guy mess too much with your mind.

Personally if i was different ( as to be explained later ) i would reply to the person calling me with joking and mockery to get into his mind and screw with it.
BUT ! i dont take unknown calls, actually i have no need for my phone, only 6-7 persons from my family and my 1 friend have my number, and i use it very little, like 1- hour of speaking and 2-3 Gb of data every month.
Pretty safe to say i do not like phones, i just love to talk with persons of interest, but face to face on the phone i start to get very frustrated after a few minutes.

So lucky my people have finally figured it out and dont call me with BS any more, and they also know they can call me day and night if they have anything serious i can do or help them with.
My phone are only off when i sleep, but if they call during that i will return the call as soon as i wake up.
 
If he/she does this often enough the police can set up a sting on their butt by having cars (unmarked) follow you waiting for the pepatratior to do the same. Then the can pull the person over and get his tame and everything, later if he pulls this stunt get someone to beat the hell out of him!
 
I could do that too if a friend experienced this, just swing my my place and i will fall in line behind the person and give him a taste of his own medicine.

Sady i am too old to swim to the US, and aside for a lotto win that's the only way i will ever afford to revisit that country.

Being an ex bodyguard you would surely know people in the game to help you out legal or not.

If you really wanted to take some serious action for such a serious crime and know the identification of these people then I'm sure there are plenty of CCTV cameras around your area and the police would have checked those if you had of reported it sometime earlier in the last 3 years and the case would be solved.

I'v got it, wrong site for lonely/bored personal ads. Seriously tho, the whole story sounds suss to me but hey, stranger things have happened on this revolving rock we live.

After my post last night. I pulled the trigger and purchased two last night. It’ll be here tomorrow.
Thus far, I’ve returned 3 dash cams to Amazon.

1. Retired since 2003. No one I’ve ever worked with knows my 10-20. I’d like to keep it that way.

2. Ha! Had you read my reply to Kamkar1. You’d know I’m happily married and have a wonderful child. We just moved to my 10-20 eight yrs ago.

3. We still don’t know anyone here. Why? Sketchy people. Hombr’e...

4. Our close family n friends live on the East Coast n Hawaii.

Why am I even bothering to justify myself to you?!

I’m here asking for assistance on dash cams. Front n rear with night vision, along with 128 GB (minimum) storage space.

Why so Rude Hombr’e. Add Hateful to Your list. Feel better now for harassing a lady?

Trust me, I would not have come on this site unless I needed advice and that is it. No FD, IG or SC.

TBH, this is my view:

1. Don't stop your car for anyone. You don't know if said person is armed and stopping the car, especially if you are unarmed puts you and your daughter at risk of attack. On the move in a metal box, you're far better protected.

2. Don't publish pictures on social media of the person. I know this was a well intentioned suggestion above. However, with a serious stalker you may antagonize them rather than embarrass them.

3. Dash cameras only have a very limited range with number plates. Unless the guys is riding your bumper, you may find it difficult to identify him. Typically I reckon much more than 10 feet off the bonnet and you struggle to read plates. Consider a backup camera on the rear parcel shelf such as a video camera or slr in video mode focused further away. You can disguise this by constructing or buying a box and cutting an aperture for the lens to sit through - be careful of thermal considerations here as you don't want to fry the camera / set the car on fire. No reason why it has to be a full box as you're in a hot area, just as long as the from the rear the camera isn't viewable. Could just be an L shaped piece of something. Also, in daylight at least, there's a lot to be said for a narrower view and more megapixels - again more reason for a zoom camera as a back up. might be helpful to date and time everything although here, you will need an uninterrupted supply to the dash cam - parking mode might be helpful as well to see if your vehicle is approached at night.

4. Get recording equipment for your phone at home and record all phone calls so you have a record of any threats / unwanted calls. There is specialist recording leads / equipment but also could be something as simple as a phone that goes on speaker and a digital dictaphone by it - start the recording, answer the phone on speaker

5. If the guy knows your home address, (which he will do if he knows 4. above), then consider IP CCTV at home especially an automated PTZ turret with auto zoom that can track targets. These type of cameras can get pictures from as far away as 800ft or more in daylight due to the zoom so are ideal for watching people across the street as well as on your own property. A bit of googling shows there's a forum for this here: https://ipcamtalk.com/ Don't know if it's good or not, but looks alright at 1st glance.

6. Make sure the police are aware and talk to them about help / measures you can take.

7. Reconsider your position on a CCP. You can keep your daughter safe by having a gun safe in the house where it's locked away when not in use or on your person. However, in your country where the other person may be armed, I'd consider the risk vs benefit. At least with CC, if you should get forced off the road, and he approaches you, especially if he's armed himself, you have some means of defence. Same with body armour. Again there are some shirts available that look like normal clothing. Sure you are aware being in the personal protection industry.

8. Consider this person could be random, but it's far more likely it's someone who knows you eg a work colleague. ex- colleague, friend etc.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Everything you’ve written, I’ve done thus far. A bit of a back story. Before the London Olympics, a man in broad daylight attempted to kidnap my child at the Glouster Tube Station.
My child n I have a rule, hold my hand at all times, squeeze it if you are uncomfortable. When he tried to take her away, she squeezed my hand in time for me to swoop her up.
I use my fingers to whistle for help. He was caught on site. As soon as we got into the Rail Station CCTV Room, my child told them what had happened to her. Her story matched what they saw on the CCTV.
She didn’t need to testify, because in the CCTV Room, they have a/v cameras recording as well. Yes, the UK is awesome but I live in the US :-(
This occurred on a Monday and the following week on Wednesday I was in court to testify. I told people that the UK doesn’t play, when it comes to crimes.
I let my guard down during our visit. Never again. Hubby got a call from the Marybalone Rail Station and thought I was playing a joke. A female Constable called him and when it finally hit. He lost it. They drove him in from his office in Chertsey.

3. The CCTV in the US is worthless and it’s dismal at best. People have stopped caring.
4. I drive a Toyota Tacoma full cab/long bed. Nine feet long. Needed long wires for it and it was done or so I thought...
5. Thus far, I’ve purchased 6 rear/front dash cams and the last two were falsely advertised. It claimed to record front n rear at the same time, not so.
6. We live in a gated community with Law Enforcement Local n State Bureau of Investigators. I train Chow Chow’s for medical alert. The first was for my child.
7. We have camera’s around our home that records 24/7, we also have a security system like no other, due to where we live. Our neighbors, Real Rocket Scientist. Members of NASA as well.
8. This past weekend, my child’s best friends grandmothers home was broken into. They called me and called the PD. Sent hubby over with our child first. Just in case.
9. Inside job. You’ll love this, for a Fingerprint Tech to come out it’ll be in a week or so. I wasn’t close to home. I improvised, hair spray, activated charcoal new makeup brush and 3/5 index cards n tape. No prints, just marks where they used their t-shirt. I’m still in disbelief n shock that each officer is not trained to do prints or carry a print kit. Velcome to Southern Russia.
10. Childs BFF Grandmother, was away for 3hrs and didn’t turn her alarm on. Had to have a CTJ with her. This occurred during the day before noon.
11. Whom ever my stalker is, isn’t watching me 24/7. I workout at night knowing family is safe and no stalker on my rear.
12. I purchased a Harley Davidson FatBoy Lo and it was delivered in a closed trailer. Let them try to follow me now. It’ll be impossible, riders break lanes here and it’s legal.
My rule is this, if you ride a motorcycle be an organ donor or don’t ride, IMPO
13. I’ve never ridden with a full face helmet, got a half helmet and full face scary looking neoprene masks, along with a normal black one.
14. I’m looking into dash cam for my bike and truck (again) Both have alarms and the current dash cam is hard wired in.
15. I’m considering a CCP for hubby n I. Yes, my child will be taking a class with hubby for firearms safety. Never AR’s.
16. If anyone could suggest a 128GB non looping, IR front n rear dash cam, please let me know.
The reason I don’t give out my 10-20 is due to my past employers. The worst dash cam is Z-Edge at $180. False Advertisement, it’s either or recoding not both.
I appreciate all suggestions.

Curious ..... by "hands are registered" do you mean along the lines of Registered as Deadly Weapons ???

By "paper plates" do you mean those often seen on cars at dealerships / car lots?
Car dealers / sales people often drive home different cars from their lot. Perhaps your just seeing someone who owns / works at a dealership and lives in your neighborhood.
While great place to get info on dash cams ..... I do not know if I would turn to a bunch of dash cam enthusiasts for advise on how to deal with a stalker. Perhaps you could find a Body Guards forum since the threat of stalkers is a common reason celebrities hire trained Body Guards. (y)
