And CPL on of course.
I'm not sure yet whether I prefer CPL on or off. I'm trying with it on for a few days to see what I think.

Oh, I'm still using EV +0.3 with PlatePix on. I will upload some samples when I have the energy to do so.

In my car I sometimes have ugly reflections without a CPL that massively impact the plate capture.
CPL ist a must for me.

Your car can and will be different.

Hello, can you share the two video source files of A229PRO and E1PRO on the network disk?
do you have a BILIBILI account?
search 万奇欧e1pro in bilibili

As requested, I did turn off PlatePix for today and kept on HDR.
Here are the results:

My experience with PlatePix on and off mirrors yours: plates are more difficult to read without enabling PlatePix. I haven’t compared HDR on/off with PlatePix enabled. I’ll have more time to play around next week.

Just a FYI for everyone that is considering getting a suction cup mount for the E1 Pro.
I got told that the current suction cup from the E1 is NOT fully compatible with the E1 Pro.
There is a new version of the suction cup that is fully compatible with the E1 Pro coming soon.

what is this?

what is this?
The suction cup mount is an alternative mount that can be used instead of the mount that comes in the box with the 3M tape.
It allows for a quick swap of the dashcam between cars if required.
The suction cup mount also has a GPS unit.

how long sell?

I was finally able to get some good night shots with the E1 Pro.

Since the E1 Pro uses the latest IMX678, I used other dashcams that have the same image sensor to compare them.
For the comparison I used:
  • E1 Pro HDR on, PlatePix on
  • E1 Pro HDR on, PlatePix off
  • Viofo A329 HDR on
  • Viofo A229 Pro HDR on
I selected 2 random cars on one camera and searched for the best frame for every camera.

A329 with HDR enabled on the left, E1 Pro with HDR on and PlatePix enabled on the right. Both times the plates can be directly identified.

A229 Pro with HDR enabled on the left, E1 Pro with HDR on enabled, PlatePix disabled on the right. A229 Pro can be directly identified. The E1 Pro without PlatePix enabled needs some skipping through the frames to confirm it.

Very good performance from both E1 Pro units!

The plates can definitely be better identified with the PlatePix settings enabled.
I would strongly recommend using it to get the best results.

Considering the price of the E1 Pro, this performance is very good.
It can be bought for just 139,99€ on Amazon currently.

That’s a nice set of comparison images! Given the price and performance of the E1 Pro, that makes it pretty difficult to beat!

Thank you!
I tried to make a fair real world comparison.

For the price, the E1 Pro seems like the best 4k single channel camera available in 2025 so far.

Here are some more E1 Pro screenshots that show the effect of PlatPix on vs off.
The first picture will always be the one WITHOUT PlatePix. 2nd image of the same car will have PlatePix enabled. CPL is on for both units.

Biggest difference. With PlatePix disabled it can barely be read.

These results continue to show that PlatePix is an excellent implementation to improve plate capture. The PlatePix image will be slightly darker.
Vantrue did a great job with it. @Jeff_Vantrue
