    Hardwire kit - which one?

Switched mean that it goes on and off when the ignition key is turned on or off. It is not "always hot" as in a line that comes directly from the battery. The other items connected to the same line is only the power port (cigarette lighter socket) that it comes off of. That's it. So it is...

    Hardwire kit - which one?

DOH! So I thought everything was working fine but for a while I've noticed that my car radio is not pulling in stations like it used to and often has static and it never used to. So I wondered if it was due to this wire, so I pulled it out while the radio was on and bam, static gone. Plugged it...

    Hardwire kit - which one?

Agreed. That is possible. It could be a knock off, but it is from Spytec. Not a fly by night outfit, no? I can't see why they would that. My guess would be that they just take the Viofo one from Viofo and put it in a Spytec bag. Even still the Viofo one is also designed for constant on, not...

    Hardwire kit - which one?

I agree. No doubt some people screw up the install and then blame the wire. That is inevitable and just part of internet noise that a savvy consumer must wade through. Trust me though, my review is not that. Mine was not hooked up to a constant on 12v connection. I did say that from the...

    Hardwire kit - which one?

That looks exactly like the cable that SpyTec sent me. Virtually identical. If it is then all I can tell you is that it does not work for everyone. It depends on your vehicle and installation. And it's not just me. Feel free to read numerous reviews on Amazon of others that had the same results...

    Hardwire kit - which one?

Final review: After putting this thing through its paces and full testing I would recommend getting the Rexing wire rather than the Spytec if you are going to hook it up to a switched power line. Working great and I'm very glad I found the review from another A119 user that had it on Amazon...

    Hardwire kit - which one?

So far still good for the "Rexing Hardwire Kit". That still seems to be working fine. Only down side is the connector is right angle going down and A119 is on the right side and needs one going straight or up, but a minor annoyance if it works correctly.

    Hardwire kit - which one?

I have it connected to a power outlet/socket (cigarette lighter in old guy speak). I have 2 "sockets". One that is always hot and one that is switched. I have the wire connected to the switched one. That is the same socket that I used to have a USB adapter in and had the cam plugged into that...

    Hardwire kit - which one?

I have a SpyTec A119 I bought from Amazon and it has been working great for a long time. I moved stuff around in my car and I wanted to install a hard-wire kit so that I no longer had to have it plugged in to a USB port. First one I tried was this one: I did not hook it up directly to the...

A119 V2 Cannot See Licence Plates Clearly

What did they do for you? Sending you a new camera or did they help you adjust the clarity of this one?

A119 V2 Cannot See Licence Plates Clearly

Yes, I have the exact same issue. Right side of the screen is slightly less sharp than the center or right side. Not a huge deal, but noticeable. I would not call it "blurry" but I would call more along the lines of "not crisp and sharp" or "not 100% in proper focus". I got mine from SpyTec...

    Firmware question

Thank you all. Very much appreciated. I'll update to 2.05 from here then but I think I will wait a few days first. Just got it and want to make sure it works before messing with it. I think if I flash it now and something is wrong I won't know if it was wrong out of the box or if it was the...

Thank you both. Very much appreciated. Just one more question ... forgive my ignorance but what is a CPL?

    Firmware question

Just got a SpyTec A119 and it came with firmware 2.01. I see 2.02 on the SpyTec website but here on this website they have 2.05 but I'm guessing that it is from VIOFO and not SpyTec. Is it safe for me to use the 2.05 firmware? Is it necessary? Does the newer firmware give me anything or fix...

    A few Settings questions

Just got a SpyTec A119 and I have a few quick questions about some of the settings I hope someone can help me with. 1. Resolution I see that it does 2560x1440 @30fps by default. Would it actually be better to pick 1920x1080 @60fps due to the higher frame rate? 2. WDR WDR is off by default...

light comes on front of camera randomly

This is happening to me also. See my topic here: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/blue-star-on-display.18068/ To shut it off just press the on/off switch while it is recording. On mine there is a blue star on the display when the light is on so I know when it comes on. Then I just press...

    Blue star on display?

Just checked it out and you are correct. If I press the on/off button the light goes on and off and the blue star appears or disappears accordingly. So I'm guessing that it is going on and off while I am driving without me touching it. I never looked while I was driving to see if it is on.

    Blue star on display?

OK, so your saying that the blue star is present when the IR LED light is on and not present when it is missing? I have not looked at the front of the unit when it is there so I can't tell until next time. However, I can tell you that if that is the case then it is doing it on its own because I...

G1WH stopped being powered via usb

From what I read they are the same today as the older ones IF they have the same chipset. Some newer ones don't come wit the same older chipset which is preferred. Just check the posts here to see which companies still offer the good chipset as described in the review.
