Adding an SD card in does not expand the internal memory. The camera has a setting to write to either the internal 8G or to the SD card.

I believe the included power supply that ships with the mini is only a 2A output. I would not go beyond a 5A fuse when hard-wiring it. I will let others respond to the rest; I drew power from my car's moon roof wiring above the roof liner, not from the fuse box.

I would first check to see if the cam works with the included 12V power adapter. If so, you know the cam works. Next, what size fuse are you tapping for power, and are you adding a 2A fuse between that and the cam?

I'll be interested to hear how the battery fares over some time. When I first received my 0801, the 'battery' in it would barely keep the camera alive long enough to format a memory card.

The first attempt I made to update the firmware, my camera also didn't 'see' the file either. Powering cycling it with the card still in, it did prompt me to update. I don't know if that's a solution for you, but could be worth a try.

Best recommendation I'd have just as a work-around would be to still connect the DVR into the GPS block, but plug power into the DVR directly. The lack of support you are getting is lame though.

Yes, I expected the smaller recording time, no complaints. MrSir, the firmware of this is an adjusted 20140308 (to have a higher bitrate stream & a Ford logo). Before the update, it was at 20140116 from the factory which also worked well. I use a pair of Samsung 32G Class 6 cards for recording.

I'm happy to report no overwrite issues when full; It's working without issue. I will note that recording at the higher bit-rate means my 32G card stores only about 3 hours of video (176 minutes on last tally). Previous fw recorded closer to the 240 minute range.
