So i cannot connect directly to 12v supply when wiring? cut usb cable and wanted to Connect directly to 12v accessories but no power at all. Do I Need to convert 12V to 5V in order to work?

I have a VIOFO T130 and I had it hardwired, I want the parking mode feature, but it seems to keep the cam on Permanently. Is this how parking mode works? I thought it would shut off and then just turn on if it detects motion or gets bumped.
