4K Omni, Cap, 2ch, released by 70mai LN

I'm not fussed about trees but it would be great if it can capture people on the side of the road especially at night without the image being a blurry image.

That seems to elude many dash cams.
I'm struggling to see the benefits of people on the side of the road tbh, what's within the immediate frame is the focus to me. Enlighten me ..

If you struggle to see the benefits then I guess you'll only need it when something happens and it would help. Each to their own opinion.

A personal experience where a person standing in the centre division of the road decided to walk out just before I passed them!
I didn't hit them but later went to the footage to check what happened and all I saw was a blur of a person no details of any kind.

Not everything that's important has a licences number on it.
The cops are always asking for evidence for anything but blurred images aren't going to help much.

Dashcams that can create clear still frames on every shot would be ideal. Technology / price point is not there yet it seems.

Not sure it would be as applicable at night, cos less people around unless it was a quiet back street or country road. Otherwise if people stepped out from the median strip in a higher traffic area at night, surveillance footage aplenty would be present from pubs nightclubs businesses around the area.

Would be extremely unlucky if someone stepped out on a quiet road at night, but still theoretically possible i suppose. Police here in Oz can pull a lot of stuff from a lot of sources when it comes to it

Phone cameras are just about there - not at the level of DSLR/ mirrorless cameras but catching up. Hopefully dashcams get there in the next few years

I am wondering if we at some time will see a dashcam on a huge megapixel sensor, that then bin pixels to give nice low light footage.
Something like that could also give " huge " resolution still pictures, but snapshots not single frame grabs

Seems like the sensor design is different in Starvis sensors compared to phones, therefore there is no need for pixel binning because it achieves the same results. Would result in more processing work, therefore why bother implementing a higher megapixel sensor into a dashcam.

No it is binned a lot of pixels, or as in dashcams just the amount of big pixels you need.
Some of the things in phone camera technology do sound interesting, and the capabilities of some phone ISP chips are off the hook, though of course not really things that might be wanted in a dashcam.

But i am figuring, sooner or later, to differentiate them self, someone will try something along those lines.

Welcome to the forum @mccoyandboys

The new omni will probably launch soon, but not able to give a date.

Few articles on the internet saying it's not binned. I'm referring to when you have e.g. 50/100MP sensors on phones, and then they get binned to make it a 12MP image for instance. Which according to the Starvis white papers doesn't happen.

You need help dude.
You give AI far to much credit.

It knew the differences between using 60hz and 50hz - nah I don't think so.
It knows the flaws in eMMC memory - give me a break!
It knows about unstable mount creating vibrations in the video when on rough or dirt roads?

I back up my reviews with video evidence I don't do what you do and paste 1 minute video thinking that's enough when it is really just pandering to the dashcam maker. Pathetic mate.

I could always do reviews your lazy way and just create the same template for everything you review!

Happy reviewing ...... lol
🤣

You need to let go.
Not paying credit for other people's work like you did with the A810Plus /T800 post is embarrassing, but time to move on and pay credit to a user when you are using their information. Simples!

And as for the template, guess what, plug it into a reverse AI tool and it was written by me. That isn't lazy at all, but shows I spent time writing the sentences in the paragraphs, you know, something that is foreign to you.

Not like you that just asked for it to be handed to you on a plate and not write anything.

I find it funny how suddenly you are so upset with my comments, months after the fact. Maybe other folks just aren't happy with the way AI is being used to write reviews.

There is no honor or integrity in using AI or ChatGPT to write a review.

Are you augustus? Crazy how fast he has recognised your comment!
Perhaps you enjoy trolling too!
Making assumptions is poor form.
I guess you don't approve of spell checker either as that would also reduce your integrity.

No he's just sick of your s..hit too.

"Making assumptions is poor form", yet makes assumptions that Lufa is me. Lol I wish I had the time to be two people at once on opposite sides of the world, but alas, I am not that powerful.

Nope...I am not Augustus. I do have issues with AI or ChatGPT generated reviews, and the same tools being used to provide answers to forum members. I participate in several boards where answers from ChatGPT / AI are strictly forbidden due to the fact the answers are often completely or partially incorrect.

ChatGPT reviews are no better than a sales marketing or promo by the manufacturer. Anyone can stick a dash cam on the wind screen and then use ChatGPT for a review. If the reviewer states up front that all or some of the review is ChatGPT then there is little room for complaints. Transparency is everything.

man I blocked you ages ago as your input is usually from another source that you don't reference.

Just hot air and anything to keep your threads alive and on top of everyone else's. Has to have the last word.

I didn't realise I would need to check my back on every review you don't like the way it is written.
Writing a review as a report is still a review.
I'm sure I can find an AI checker that will say your posts are written by AI.
Just like statistics they can be manipulated to what the person presenting them wants.

You seem to get pleasure out of attacking others on dashcamtalk which just kills the good vibe this site tries to bring to the public.
I noticed the Webmaster removed the haha emoji because of your misuse of it. That must be killing your fun lol.
Now back to blocking you!

OK seemed a possibility but I must admit I gave him to much credit for being able to do that.

I agree if AI is used solely as the source of the information then it really doesn't add anything to help the reader.
I hope you can see that my reviews actually have content that is from my findings and are not AI.

I won't be discussing this any further and will be ignoring the haters who are gonna hate.

Thanks for the sensible reply I appreciate it.
