70mai A810 Lite - Testing/Review - RCG

70mai sent me an A810 Lite 2-Channel dash camera to test. I've captured my raw unboxing pictures [still need to process them for posting]. I ran my power consumption test suite for a 2-channel and 1-channel configuration using a UP03 hardwire kit.

What I've found so far:

• Firmware
  • Firmware 1.1.35ww was available for the A810 Lite when I unboxed it.
  • I updated the firmware to 1.1.35ww before I started my testing.
• Front camera internal buzzing/rattle
  • 70mai has stated this is due to how the supercapacitor is mounted on the circuit board.
  • The main body of the supercapacitor is not secured to the board so it can move around a bit which can result in a vibration/rattle noise.
  • I'm going to review the audio tracks to see if the rattle noise is being picked up by the front camera microphone.
  • I've listened to a few audio tracks using a set of headphones and I can't say I hear rattle noise so far.
  • The audio recording level is very low [ambient sounds/music in the car], so I don't know if it will be in the audio track content.
  • I believe I heard the rattling/buzzing while driving, but my car is quite old and there may have been something else creating that noise [that only started after installing the A810 Lite in the car?].
• 2-Channel frame rates
  • The front camera frame rate is dropped from 30 fps in 1-channel mode to 24 fps in 2-channel mode.
  • The rear camera frame rate is 25 fps.
  • Bitrates: MP4 files
    • Front: 3840x2160, 24 fps, 29.65 Mbps, HEVC/H.265
    • .s_Front: 848x480, 24 fps, 2.01 Mbps, AVC/H.264
    • Rear: 1920x1080, 25 fps, 10.06 Mbps, HEVC/H.265
• Rear 1080p Camera
  • RC21 rear camera creates videos with acceptable video quality for a 1080p camera.
  • The image is not super sharp, but it's better than some other 1080p rear cameras.
• HDR
  • High Dynamic Range [HDR] is enabled by default, so I left it enabled for my initial daytime drive.
  • There is a timer function present to turn it on/off
• Compatible with 70mai LTE modules
  • This dash camera is compatible with the 70mai UP04/UP05 LTE modules.
  • I have the A810 Lite installed in my car using a UP05 LTE module.
  • Notifications for impact events while parked worked well during my first drive test.
• Parking Modes
  • The A810 Lite has two parking modes: Collision Detection, Time-Lapse
    • No motion detection parking is offered in this dash camera.
  • In typical 70mai fashion, you can enable zero, one or both parking modes
• Daytime frame grabs
