A118 not recording GPS data

I might be looking at this in literal form, but the GPS should go in the GPS in not the AV socket

good catch. yes, the gps antenna should go into the gps port. but if he had it plugged into the AV port, the camera would not show anything about GPS on the screen.
 
THANK YOU to everyone here, especially esox07! I thought I had a bad GPS unit, so I bought another. When it came in, I had just read about the "hack" of flipping the circuit board to get more accurate location data. So, I did that before I installed the second unit. No GPS on the second unit. I was bummed. Figuring that I'd accidentally broken a wire or something, I ordered a 3rd GPS unit. Installed it last night, drove to work, opened up the files in Registrator Viewer and was severely bummed when once again, no freaking GPS data. Figured I had a bad A118C. I was trying to decide if I wanted to wait for the A119C with internal GPS, or not. Then, I came here, searched the forums, and found this thread. The clouds parted, Sun shone down upon my ignorant head and kicked me in the a$$. I was using version 5.4. As soon as I updated to 6.0 that glorious GPS data showed up on the map and I am once again very happy with my dashcam.

TLDR: I was ignorant, and you guys ROCK!

Edit: I just checked some footage from last week, and my GPS unit (that I thought was bad) was actually working. D'Oh!

just for the record, flipping the GPS is only about how you want to mount it, it does nothing for accuracy at all
 
In A118C, external GPS antenna has to be plugged in to AV in socket only. It is same in Dome cameras also
I was not getting the GPS coordinates in recorded video, even though the screen shows speed in kmph. tries 1 /3/5 minute clips. Was using registration viewer 6 version only
