A229 Pro MOD firmwares

I seem to remember a novatek api document which had a command for setting the G sensor sensitvity, it just had the Low/Medium/High parameter.
I disassembly da380.ko Linux kernel module to obtain this information. G-sensor have much more than just sensitivity setting. But probably yes, much quickly is to change sensitivity and may be threshold values for Maximum setting option now.

I already updated to the mod3 firmware and then I lost my rear camera .
Although the front cam works fine but rear one disconnect always.
I try to flash back to the offical firmwre. It doesnet work when I insert the sdcard with a least offical firmware ......
How can I force to flash back to offical firmware?
I want my rear cam back again....

@magicalriiya Check that your sd-card formatted to FAT32 file system (EX-FAT works well for regular work but not for FW update), copy A229P.bin file of original FW to root of sd-card and power on dashcam.

Rear camera is never connected or sometimes loose connection?

I formatted my 16G SD-CARD to FAT32 via Viofo offical format tools , and then copy the offical front and rear cam firmware .
When I insert it to my A229Pro 2CH , it display updating (looks abnormal coz very fast and then reboot ) .

Same as before , my A229Pro connect to rear cam and disconnect ....repeat and repeat.....

If on front cam menu in Video settings you can't see Codec menu - you are back to official FW successfully.
I'll try to reproduce it on my cam and write you PM if I have something news.

Upd:
PM with instruction was sent.
mod3 in early post was updated to be 100% sure that rear cam be work as expected after main cam update to mod3. If somebody else installed previous version - please install updated version.

Anyone try this to see if it's compatible with the A229 Plus yet?

@Sprite23 It is not compatible with A229Plus. A229Plus is independent model with another processor, image sensor and own firmware files.

mod4 version was released.

Changelog:
  • Fix 'Parking' action for Bluetooth remote control buttons. Now previously enabled parking mode turn on properly (not only '1 fps timelapse mode')
mod4 download link

I think is good to update the first post will all features you are offering.
For example:
1. improvement bla-bla (mod1)
2. added bla-bla (mod1)
3. fixed bla-bla (mod2)

Regarding G-Sensor sensitivity I consider is better to add one more value and not modify the Viofo standard values for G-Sensor. If is possible. Do not worry right now for false alarms because if you have some recordings based on a very sensitive G-Sensor it is better than to have nothing.

Sound trigger can be a good option if possible. I used a Wyze camera for my car, it can detect motion, sound (default), and smoke, person, etc (AI based, by monthly subscription). Quite good for a backup solution for parking mode.

At this moment it is not possible as I know. Audio channel only added to video but not analyzed. May be later if Novatek add to own SDK some sort of audio decoding and parsing.

Tks, any chance that we can mod the firmware to the max bitrates (better than Viofo's max setting) for all of 3 channels? I can handle the overheating for 3 channel recordings now but not sure that we can get the best quality videos or not πŸ™‚ Currently it's 2.7GB for 3 channel recordings (5 mins) at Viofo's max bitrates.

I hope that I can improve image quality for rear camera, may be via increasing bitrate may be change other settings. Front camera already have enough high bitrate. That about interior camera - I did not use it so do not have any plans for it.
Next mod version will be released with gsensor changes in second part of August.

Hi, any chance that we can add the option for turning on/off auto motion detection in parking mode for the new remote buttons? I'll turn off auto detection for parking in a safer place (seems that turning off will save ~1.5w on my Ecoflow comparing with the auto detection parking mode). Tks!

Are you sure that turn off motion detection will save some watts? Because sensor is still works in this mode same as then motion detection is turn on but no motion objects is present. It is required for buffered recording feature (then g-sensor is triggered).
Only one difference then parking motion detection is off - save space on sd-card in high traffic places.

On Ecoflow River 2, it shows 5W for parking mode with AED off, 6-7W with AED on (front+rear cameras only) and 7W for normal 3-channel recording πŸ™‚
Maybe processing the motion detection consumes more power.

Nice to see that my mod help save some power and extend work time in parking mode.
I'll add your suggestion to wish list but can't say how many chances that I implement it. First of all I'll made g-sensor and move on rear camera quality.

Hi there. Awesome work.
Would it be possible to implement turning on the Station Mode with the BTR200?

I have setup (in Node-Red) that automatically downloads new protected videos from the card when it notices my A229Pro on my network. It is always cumbersome to press the Mic+WiFi buttons every time and 50% of the time I don't press it right and disable the Mic instead :')

@ClassicGOD Thank's.
You know, I think that A229Pro should remember last used type of Wi-Fi - AccessPoint or Station mode. Because you use only one type regulary and it's depend on your home router settings (or other internet equipment) that does not changes often.
So best of all is implement save current mode and then you need to turning Wi-Fi On use this previous state. Turning On and Off via Bluetooth remote is already present in official FWs. Should I implement save last Wi-Fi mode or Viofo?
I can but I need source code to made it properly and easy way. Or it's costs a lot of my time to move bytes and add new binary codes (it's much harder that writing a c++ sources).

I have other request to implement Start/Stop video recording via Bluetooth buttons and your suggestion is not much differ from it. So if I would be implement one - I'll implement both options cause it's similar new code.
But all my changes in current FW should be rewritten again then Viofo update current firmware. And it is hard, long, "monkey" work. Much more easy write it on source code only once and it be used on all future versions.
But then I tells Viofo about using my time and skills to work on features/fixes for official FWs I got 🀣emoticon only.

@ All
I still remember about "Next mod version will be released with gsensor changes in second part of August" but I still fight with bytes to add one more option to Parking G-sensor sensitivity. Almost done but sometimes it's reset to default setting. Still try to fix it.

Yes, that was shameful of VIOFO. Oh well, I questioned their 'engineering chops' and was mildly thrashed. Maybe the problem is management? πŸ˜‰

Your work is good and the only issue I have had with your code is the VIOFO app does not recognise the changes. But, that is to be expected. πŸ™‚
