I am having an issue with my Viofo A329S 3-channel dashcam while using Motion/Event Detection parking mode connected to a Viofo BP100 battery pack.

I understand the differences between the parking recording modes and specifically want to use Motion/Event Detection. However, the system is constantly generating false motion events. Within 24 hours, I end up with thousands of recordings, which quickly drains the BP100 battery pack.

To troubleshoot, I tested multiple settings and camera configurations:

  • Low motion sensitivity and low G-sensor sensitivity
  • IR mode OFF
  • Parking HDR OFF
  • 90-second delay after vehicle shutdown before parking mode activates
I then tested each camera individually:

  1. Front camera only
    • Worked perfectly
    • Only recorded 3–4 legitimate events over 24 hours
  2. Front + rear camera
    • Also worked normally
    • Recorded approximately 8–10 legitimate events over 24 hours
  3. Front + rear + interior camera connected
    • This is when the issue begins
    • The system records nearly nonstop every 2-3 minute intervals.
    • Around 2,000 clips are created within 24 hours
I reviewed many of the interior camera recordings and cannot identify any actual motion triggering the events.

Additional information:

  • Firmware is fully up to date
  • I have tested two separate A329S units
  • Both behave exactly the same way
I have already contacted Viofo support and also spoke with SafeDrive Solutions. Both attempted troubleshooting, but we were unable to find a solution. SafeDrive Solutions recommended posting here to see whether anyone else has experienced this issue or found a fix.

Any suggestions or support would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The interior camera uses IR for night recording. If something is triggering that sensor, the camera will start recording. My suggestion is to leave the 3-channel plugged in, and put a black bag or towel over the interior camera and block the IR LED, IR sensor, and the lens. That will prove whether an external event caused the issue.

If you are still having issues, then the interior camera may be bad, the cable, or even the main camera where the plug goes.

At one time, I had an A229 Pro interior cam on the front windshield pointing to the rear, and an A229 Pro Interior cam on the back glass pointing forward. If something triggered one of the IRs to operate, the other would sense it, and the two A229 Pros would record for hours, each triggering the other.

So the recording issue is occurring at all times of the day, not only at night. As mentioned previously, I turned the IR off and tested it, but the false recordings still continued.

I’m confident the issue is not related to the camera or the cables themselves, as I had already replaced the original camera with a new one thinking the first unit may have been defective. Unfortunately, both cameras are experiencing the exact same false recording issue.
