What is everyone's general opinion of the dashcam company Mio/Navman? The company which produces MiVue's.
How are their dashcams and their customer support? Are they any good? And would you recommend purchasing from them?

Welcome to the forum.
The brand are actually one of the old ones, but even so dont see much uptake or traffic generated here on the forum.
I have never had one of them myself, and i have no clue on what their customer care / service are like

The brands that see little traffic here on the forum are in the " other brands " subforum. https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/forums/mio-mivue.32/

Is there any partikular model / feature you are looking for ?

Several years ago I had a couple of Mio Mivue 528/538 when they first came out and they turned out to be reliable cameras with decent lifespan and reasonable video quality. The PC playback software also worked well.
Reliability and longevity of the Mios was vastly better than the widely-sold Nextbase cameras available at the time.
One of my cars at the time had a shallow windscreen angle and the Mio mount didn't have enough adjustment so the camera pointed upwards by about 10 degrees, so was used in a different car.
I never needed customer support.

I think if I was gifted a Mio for Christmas I would happily use it, but if spending my own money I would probably look elsewhere.

Thank you for the replies guys! There isn't anything in particular I am looking for, I just wanted to see if their dashcams were worth buying overall.

Hi All
I am (or was) a loyal Mio customer. I had a couple of MiVue 658 Touch dash cams. They worked great, I particularly liked the MiView Manager software they supplied that I use to view the resultant Videos and GPS data on my windows PC.
I needed another dash cam, so I bought a MiVue 955W. Big mistake.
The camera works fine in itself, but MiView manager cannot read the resultant files from the SD card.
I phoned Mio support and was told that a new version of MiVue manager "might" become available at some time in the future.
For now all you can do is watch the videos on a phone using the MiVue Pro app (what use is high res video if you can only watch it on a mobile phone screen).
Or you can watch the videos on a PC using any conventional MP4 Player, but you cannot see the GPS data (particularly miss the acceleration data).
This situation is especially strange as the NMEA GPS data is recorded along with the videos (though in a separate file). It seems weird that Mio do not seem to have a viewer to display the data so recorded.

Has anyone else run across this problem? Better still has anyone found a solution to it?

Hi again.
I have solved my own problem (no help from Mio Support).

1) If you have an existing installation of MiVue Manager update to the latest issue (1.0.47.1). If not download the latest version from the internet.
2) Select the MP4 videos you want to view and copy them into a new folder.
3) Find the matching files from the NMEA folder on the SD card. Copy them into the folder created in step 2 above.
4) Start the MiVue Manager software and run in the normal way. Using the new combined folder you have just created in steps 2 and 3 as the target folder
5) I had to update my video codecs and restart the PC, but this may not be necessary for everyone.

On my laptop the playback at 60 frames per min is a bit stop/start works fine if you play a 1/2 speed.

Hope someone finds this of use.
