Accessing files in the app

I just installed my first dashcam (Viofo 129 Duo). I got it all working fine but I am having issues with accessing my files. The only way I can see my files is if I'm sitting in the car with the app connected to the camera and click the little icon in the bottom left of the app. If I go to My Files its blank and contains no videos. If I'm in the house I cant access any files at all. Is this normal?

My Files refers to files copied from the camera to your phone. Any file you copy will show up there. Yes, the range is what it is.
