Hi guys,

I'm having trouble finding a recommendation for a good value 2-channel dashcam, since most reviews tend to focus on camera quality and features.

I just need something basic to absolve liability in case of an accident. I don't need anything fancy like 4k, but I still want something that is decent quality e.g. has starvis sensor, okay video quality etc

Thanks in advance

There are many models that match your requirements...
Here's one of them:

Damn, reasonable requirements on a forum. Good job!! Are you sure you don't want a dash cam that makes your breakfast and after dinner drinks and gives you a shoulder message while driving? 😉

I know...usually people want way more than they need. Rarely do we have a reasonable request from someone. 🙂

Honestly, any 2-channel, 2K QHD-level dashcam will do. Viofo is the leader at the moment. You can consider the Viofo A229 Plus. If you want to deal with a premier Canadian dealer, give
@SafeDriveSolutions a DM or call and ask him for suggestions.

Or reasonable recommendations from self-appointed 'experts' who look down on anything that isn't the 'latest and greatest' and feel it's somehow inferior and has no place in the market.

What about (2) Single Channel dash cams like A119 Mini 2, instead of A229 Plus 2Ch?

(2) Single Channel Set Up

PROS:
Redundancy, if one unit fails you still have the other recording.
Double recording time capacity
No need to install “rear camera” cable from front to rear, (provided you have a power output in back of car).

CONS:
$20 more expensive for cameras
(2) SD Cards to buy

I completely agree about the Viofo A229 Plus.
The video quality is quite decent both day and night.

You forgot that a dash cam also needs to be able to make coffee. 😉

I just made the mistake of looking at the Viofo website. 🙂
Apparently the A119mini has better optics than my VS1, of which I have 2.
Similar price. Maybe the 32g disk isn't included in the A119, but you're gonna want a bigger one anyway.
I still like the form factor of the VS1 though-I never used the screen on my old A119.

You're wrong.
Look at the comparison image of the three models at the bottom of the page:
I don't see any difference in the video sensors of the Viofo A119 Mini 2 and the Viofo VS1.
