BlackVue ELITE 9 - Initial Videos, Settings Review, and Impressions coming from a U1000

You are right: in the end the most important thing is to have clear footage.
Even with cloud connection, you'll most likely arrive too late on the scene, so having clear video is key

IIRC, the Parking Mode Recording - Power Saving Mode will not buffer and will boot up when impact is detected to start recording.

I've set my Parking Mode Recording to Motion Detection, which currently keeps the dashcam on at "all times".
on the new elite 9, is the motion based recording in parking mode any different to the predecessor (970x plus ) ? Or is it the same?
I understand this has a new parking mode which is unbuffered

The power saving mode is unbuffered and takes about a second to start recording while the motion detection mode is buffered. Not sure if they are different to the predecessor but in my experience the motion detection works well.

don't really understand the power saving mode as it doesn't film the actual incident, which you do want captured .

When in the power savings mode (elite 9 ), it takes a significant amount of vibration such as closing the door, etc for the camera to start recording, a knock on the windscreen doesn’t trigger the recording, is it normal ?

Firmware Version 1.007 (2026-03-16)

is sensitivity at max ?
Yes it’s set to max
Update : Tested a second camera , the behaviour is consistent. The camera needs to experience the “shock” for it to start recording in power savings mode “
