BP100 Stops hardwire charging and then resumes again.

Hello,
I have a BP100 with an expansion pack. I have had it for a bout 2 months or when it was first introduced. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue. Today was the 3rd time that the battery stopped charging when it is low and when it is hardwired to the car. I mean no charging at all. I then plugged in an external battery pack and it charges it up. But the hardwire stops charging. . Then after a few hours it charges up again. The temperature are not an issue at all. I am Californian and the low vs high right now are mild. I have not seen anyone complain about this issue and I was wondering if you had any experience and or knowledge about this issue.

Actually now when I turn on the car, it shows the voltage incoming at 14.7v but 0.00 amp and it is not charging it. It's not saying how long it's gonna get to charge it up because it is not charging it at all. Actually this is the first time that I see the V but no amp and not charging.
Any ideas before I start a ticket.
 
I can’t make heads, or tails of what you’re trying to describe.
1.) Can you provide some photos, and videos of your set up, also screenshots of your smartphone when using the Battery APP.
2.) Can you try to update the firmware to see if that fixes your issue.
3.) You may want to SUBMIT A TICKET directly to VIOFO for tech support.
Keep in mind they’re out of the office for Chinese New Year until February 24. 2026.

These pictures are with the car running.
The red and the blue light alternate blinking.

When I turn off the car, then the red light is solid and the green light is solid. Only the blue light is blinking.

Also when I do turn off the car, it does go into parking mode. I guess it recognizes that it's no longer getting that 14.4 v

The last picture is of the battery app when the car is off. I had previously updated the app. After your response, I deleted the app and reinstalled it making sure that it's updated so there was no difference in that regard.

I guess my bad luck with the Chinese new year falling on the time. Period. I'm having problems with my battery.

All items sent by Viofo for test & review, thank you very much.

October 2022 @BlackboxMyCar sent the PowerCell 8, (EGEN of Korea) for test & review, (released in 2021); BBMC POWERCELL 8 TEST & REVIEW
I consider the PC8 my “gold standard” for comparison with all other dash cam battery packs.

December 2022 BlackVue sent the B-130X (EGEN Korea) for test & review; BLACKVUE B-130X TEST & REVIEW
I found the B-130X’s BMS to be slightly more advanced in regard to cold weather charge protection...

You seem to have a host of issues with your installation / wiring.
I would go back to your installer, and request a full refund.
Installing a dash cam battery pack is not difficult for a qualified facility with basic stereo shop experience.
You also seem to be wanting to diagnose, and perform your own installation now.
Which is a good idea, so you’ll know what’s what, and how to fix it if something isn’t right.

If I were you I would remove everything, and start over from square one by bench testing all your equipment OUTSIDE THE CAR to confirm & verify everything functions as intended.
1.) Charge when power is provided to the battery pack
2.) Dash cam boots up, and operates in Normal Recording Mode
3.) Dash cam goes into Parking Mode when charging power is removed from battery pack
Once you know you have all good components / wiring THEN install everything back in your car.
Other than that, I’m tapping out of this.

I through I would give you an update regarding the battery pack.
Mystery solved. It appears that the fuse tap that was used was a 5AMP fuse which had popped. It worked for a good 7 weeks before it stopped providing AMPs and charging.
Viofo had sent me 15 AMP fuses for the hardwire Battery Pack. They just changed it out the fuse from 5 AMPs to 15 AMPs and the amperage is working now and the battery pack is working.

The VIOFO manual doesn't apparently mention which size Fuse are to be used.

I don't know where the 5 AMP fuse came in, perhaps because before the installation of the battery pack it was hardwired with HK4 so I assume that it was a 5AMP fuse and they just left it in. I don't know. I am just happy that it was a minor issue.

But, I thought I let you know. BTW, the 15 AMP fuse taps came from VIOFO for the battery pack, I am hoping that is the right size as that was provided by them.

Thank for your help earlier but I wanted to let you know ultimately how it resolved at least for the time being. LOL. The fun never ends.

Thanks for the update.
BP100 specification is 11 Amp Max Hardwired.
During my testing I don’t remember seeing higher than 8.5 Amps.
In the interest of “highest level of safety” I would install a 10A fuse.
I would only install 15A fuse, if 10A fuse blows.

That's an excellent advice. My installer when I took the car to him said the five amp blew and he put in 10 A.
I actually had given them but video for directly sent to me and they all had a few types of 15 A. I will reach out to them and find out if I need to go back and have it changed again to 10 A. They're not gonna be happy with me, but that's fine. The only reason I made him change it is because VIOFO sent me all 15 A for this a new hardwire of the battery pack. I also just went and checked my original purchase of the battery pack BP 100 and all the fuse came with a 15 amp fuse I'm not disputing with what you're saying and showing and I appreciate it. I'm just telling you what they've sent I believe if you look at yours, you'll see that that they sent you 15 A in the box as well. I guess the mystery continues. I will keep you guys posted.

VIOFO tech support on my ticket got back to me and confirmed that the correct fuse is 15 amps.

"The fuse for BP100 battery pack is 15A."

Just put putting people's mind at ease if they have a 15 amp fuse that appears to be the correct one according to VIOFO.

They are fast to get back to you when you ask them a question or need help. I know other people have had different experiences but I've had nothing but positive experience with them so far.

Yes, the 15A fuses included with BP100 are correct.
