He then dived into a driveway, he had a small car trailer, hopefully he reversed out with no problems later on.

Seen this sort of thing before - they probably live there & don't want to take the long way round so figure they can risk the few yards going the wrong way.
We have some side roads which are 'no right turn' and yet drivers risk all to turn right (into or out of) across a four lane carriageway rather than drive up to the next roundabout (50 yards either direction!)

Not in this case, he would know of how many trucks come this way down hill if he lived there, the sign for the next roundabout is at 58 sec in this video, he just left large gap between himself and the car in front of him and the sun/shade confused him a bit.
