Dashcam remote control over Wi-Fi. Any known protocol to do that?

Hi to all!
I am doing a project of truck head telematic unit based on Android device. I'd like to integrate it with dashcam. Integration means my Android app should be able to start/stop recording the video from dashcam and may be transfer it from dashcam to Android device.
Right now I am confused if such Wi-Fi controllable device exists with "open" protocol. Only proprietary Android apps from manufacturers to control Dashcam. I am going to sniff traffic and figure out the protocol but may be there is already known solution exists?
