Having tried and failed to get my 119 to play videos on my Honda HRV's screen via the HDMI port, I got a very neat little micro SD card reader which plugs into the USBC port on my Android mobile. Playback with VLC is super quality, but lacks the overlay speed and GPS data that would be essential in the case of an incident. I was hoping that John Coggi had ported the excellent Dashcam Viewer Plus but it doesn't look as if he has. Google Play has plenty of choices but they seem to either be camera specific or overladen with ads and poorly reviewed. Recommendations for a simple reliable Android player or a way to display GPS and speed data on VLC would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, here's the card reader. It's laughably cheap, beautifully finished and, although it's rumoured to get uncomfortably hot, I had no problem with playing a 3 minute clip straight from the card and in any case intend to copy whatever is needed to the phone before viewing in detail. Neat.
