I wanted to install an external microphone but couldn't find connectors thin enough to allow the use of the waterproof case. I thought I could have a short adapter wire that disconnected from the mike wire would allow the back door to close. I don't want to have exhalation bubble sound in my videos only added music!
I had to settle on a Yi cam that would not see water .There is a video of installing a mic. adapter on Youtube . However my mic. wire adapter had much thinner RF protected insulation and was more appropriate for the tiny spaces inside the Yi.
I removed the internal mic. and drilled through the back of the case. The wiring does not interfere with resetting the cam build assy.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE RIBBON CIRCUIT WHICH WRAPS ON TO TOP OF THE CASE AND SLIDES UNDER THE SHUTTER BUTTON AND LED! IT CAN TEAR!
