Also, having reading / watching Techmoans review of the SJ1000 I concluded the video quality was excellent and almost bought one , but there are a few things that need improving / altering ...

it is let down by ..
(1) flimsy mounts,
(2) 140 degree lens (120 would be better),
(3) vignetting in its waterproof case, and..
(4) possibly its form-factor (too deep but is to no doubt accommadate the inbuilt battery)

Maybe a future model update will rectify these failings, I'm sure a better battery which is the same size should give a longer battery life, it is not helped by the firmware glich which will not allow the lcd screen to turn off.

You must have got a bad one, my DR32s sound was excellent out of the box, I assume it came preinstalled with the firmware update ! I know one or two people have mentioned issues but I can only judge mine.

The radio wasn't on that loud, listen to the audio as I accellerate at about 2.5s. And this is after the firmware upgrade!
That distortion is there all the time as I am driving, even with the radio turned off.
It worsens when you hit bumps/potholes.
My original comment to the seller was about all the videos on YT with perfect audio - all were pre April.
Many of us got dodgy audio after this time - hence the firmware upgrade. But there are many out there who bought at the same time/ after & all report great audio.
A pity these sellers won't pay return postage.

If all hardware / firmware are same as on LS300W, then this camera could be a big hit. Price starts from 115usd, not bad !

On the comments section of the Techmoan article people are saying they've had deliveries with different firmware numbers. Is there a way for someone with later firmware to read out the firmware for others to use or, given what you say above, could someone test whether applying the LS300W firmware works?

Ok, hope it is the same cam :) But I thougt the camera that techmoan tested was with a build-in battery..

Someone know what kind of battery there is? It says battery modell: A01 when I zoom in, but i cannot find any on ebay and the seller want 10USD each..

If you check Techmoan's video, you will see him removing the battery from the unit. By "built-in,'' he meant the SJ1000 has its own battery unlike others that only have capacitors.

Yes, it does. It has identical functions as ls300w gt300w gt350w, same menu interface with same functions.
i have been testing it for over 1 week. Soon will post videos.

seems NT96650 was one Best Processors Novatek ever done.

close all Cameras NT96650 + AR3030 + Wdr + 6G Lens seem so far very good picture quality

along good firmware being a very Price x Quality Good choice.

F10 / SJ1000 installed in my car. With tinted windows it would be even less visible.
Pity that with supplied suction mounting it is as high as i could go. Still about 1.5cm dash cam seen below mirror, but there are many options on using other aftermarket mounting brackets to get this dash cam level with rear view mirror so it will not stick out. Also there are few DIY ideas, but now it was quick mounting using original accessory for test purpose.
I like having lens are as close to windscreen as possible to reduce glare.

On Amazon they also have it look up "O-SKY (TM) 4-in-1 Waterproof 12MP 1080P Full HD Sports Action Camera Car Dashcam with G-Sensor Motion Detection 140 Degrees Wide Angle Lens HDMI H.264 DVR194". Except from Amazon it ships out of the U.S. So if you dont feel comfortable buying it from China buy it there. Or if you just dont feel like waiting forever to get to you from china. Costs 82 plus 5 shipping. Apparently the company that makes it is called O-SKY
