Thinkware F750/770 Firmware (Dual), X550 (Dual) and a F50
I've started a new thread so that CPL related posts can be grouped here.

Thinkware just stated that there are no current plans to offer a CPL Filter for the F50. I am in dire need of the CPL Filter, and not being able use one in my situation is a deal breaker on the F50.

I am beginning research on what can be used to attach a CPL Filter to the F50. Below are links to some of my very preliminary findings. I need (and would appreciate any help) to gather the dimension information on both the F50 and any possible solutions.

Here is what I've looked at so far:

Blackvue CPL filter for Front Cam

Blackvue CPL Filter for Rear Cam

http://www.thedashcamstore.com/slip-on-polarizing-filter-for-blackvue-dr430-650-750-rear-lens/

CPL Filter holder for Blackvue Cams (several versions from this supplier)

http://www.shapeways.com/product/LD...aTz1nFLFzV2iBom54B0_BTn0iu5_s1lP2EaAnxH8P8HAQ

This holder would require this Filter

I have not researched any alternate sources for the above items, as their applicability/suitability has not been determined yet.

Any help in this project will be appreciated.

Can you measure the inner and outer lens bezel / ring diameter ?

I don't have the F50 yet, and will not purchase unless I can put a CPL Filter on it.

We do need dimensions to evaluate what might be available.

If we can get the a, b, and c dimensions for the F50, DR650, DR500, and any other cylindrical camera that has a CPL Filter available, we can go from there.

I don't recall what it was, but I watched a Techmoan review where he put a magnetic CPL on a camera. That might work. Another possibility is the CPL filter for the Ddapi M6+. It's a stick on filter designed to fit the M6+, but you could cut off the excess with scissors.

Thank you Maddog1974. Exactly what I was looking for.

I'm going to contact the Shapeways store that was in my initial post, ans see if they can create a holder based on those dimensions.

I have this CPL lens filter which attaches with 3M adhesive tape, so "unfortunately" it will be permanent install.
The inner open part is 15mm in diameter.

Niko,

This may well be the solution.

I have no problem with it being "permanently" attached, although if one really wants to remove it the tape will separate.

Do you have a F50 that you can test fit it (without actually sticking it on)?

Do you have a link on where I can purchase this Filter?

F50 and accessories arrived today.

As we did with the F770 we will also propose CPL filter for F50
It will surely be available for September

This is excellent news.
I had also sent @edr-auto.fr a message through their web site asking about the F50.

Waiting for the Filter I ordered from @niko and will report on it's fit when it arrives.

The CPL Filter from @niko arrived today, and my initial impression is that it will work on the F50. The shipping time to Arizona was 11 days.

We are having very cloudy weather today, so videos/pictures from the F50 will have to wait for some sunshine.

Here are some pictures and info on the CPL Filter from @niko

Packaging was very secure.

Contents of the package included the 30mm CPL Filter, a mounting ring with a 10mm center aperture and 3M mounting tape attached, two spare 3M mounting tapes.

The CPL Filter with the adapter are 10mm in height.

And this is the F50 with the complete CPL Filter installed

More to follow when the weather permits evaluating the effectiveness of the lens.

I finally had a few minutes (literally) of sunshine to test the CPL Filter.
It is very effective, as expected.
Please excuse the dirty windshield, but we're looking for the dash reflections in the video.

Here is a snapshot WITHOUT the CPL Filter
