First example video from the 70mai T800 3-channel dashcam

Headed out into the night again because:

A) It was hissing down with rain!

and

B) @kamkar I tried to clean the inside of the windscreen to see if I could improve on that blooming from yesterday.

Set to 60hz to get 30fps.

Also note the time - it was proper dark.

I also have both the T800 and A229Pro. Please test if the clarity of the T800 at night is worse than that of the A229Pro

The Adelphi has some nasty lighting, but otherwise pretty good 🙂
Proof that the 50/60Hz setting should be scrapped, just like the analogue PAL TV that it comes from has been scrapped for decades!
There is a traffic light with zero light @0:11, very unusual, but I doubt that was a result of using 60Hz.

Perfect time of year for testing that dashcams don't overheat in the sunshine, but maybe not in Britain!

That's where the Americans come in, and perhaps southern Europe. The UK doesn't get enough heat in their summertime for proper testing.

Winter here, so my heat testing is on hold til November December period of time.

I think the bulb was out but I can maybe check on the Viofo cam to see for sure

One thing to mention, and this goes for all makes of dashcam, is the 3M sticky pads are iften grey - this doesn't help to conceal them much at all, it would be far better I think if the pads were black which would make them less obvious to spot on through the windscreen.

Same here, I've let them know that a while back for the previous 4K Omni. Makes it far more discreet to be black like most other manufacturers

Same over here, the very same systems seemed to come from your direction.
Shooting yesterday it is funny to see with the differences in rainfall, your shot will get pushed more or less down by the water, sideways there did not seem to be much deflection as the wind was also very weak.

I am ordering a #3 set of headlights for my car, i simply do NOT get plate captures at night, not least due to my L headlight which is the one suffering the most from the cracked glass and water / moisture inside.
Putting them on 🤐 You of course have to pretty much dismantle the whole front of the damn car ( i have already done this once before )

Agreed.
I already reported that to 70mai.

Twice now, when having removed the card to transfer files into the computer, and then replaced the card back into the dashcam (and after it says to format the card when this is done) a message appears on screen saying to "insert a memory card " at which point I have to re-seat the card in the slot.

Maybe it is slightly loose or a fraction out of position, but its something I will monitor.

A few seconds front and rear...

BMW of course.

I am having issues capturing plates at night, i might have a excellent capture but then the next car not much at all, this is even cruising at bicycle speed past parked cars.
And i also have my new headlights going, but dont seem to have changed much

I especial notice the Danish all yellow plates for commercial vehicles, those are even more illusive at night.

I am thinking it might work better with more modern headlights, CUZ the only difference i see is oncoming car having other headlights CUZ it is another make / model, and or its color though i doubt that play in much at night.

Mind you i am still very much enjoying the T800.

I'm out Tuesday night next so I'll see if it's dark enough for another test

A screengrab of license plates at night (just before 11.15pm).
