Fuse Tap - Aggghhhhhh!!!

Safest and easiest way to find a ground is to simply touch an always on fuse with your red probe and touch the screw or bolt with your black probe. If you get the appropriate voltage reading then it's a good ground.

Good advice, getting a meter goes a long way toward finding out why something doesn't work. I also agree with many above, the ground tap is no good. My car has many metal screws but I used meter to find one that is actually connected to chassis and not just decoration.

Grab a 6 pack beer and offer it to someone who knows electricity to do the work for you. :D

Just to update this thread....

It was the ground that was rubbish, I managed to find a metal frame behind a side panel that connects straight to the chassis and now all is good.

I connected one wire to the 12v socket fuse and the other to an infotainment fuse which is always live.

Thanks for the help chaps
