Actually, the Pregius-S global shutter sensors are backside illuminated and thus are capable of providing starlight sensitivity in low light when used in surveillance cameras, very similar to the backside illuminated Starvis sensors to which they are related.
If and when global shutter technology arrives in dash cams it will provide superior image quality to the rolling shutters we are now familiar with. This can be seen even with a close examination of the Raspberry Pi global shutter vs the rolling shutter video when viewed at full size.
