Can anyone tell me the specifications of the video cable plug needed to attach ext video monitor for initial setup?
is the Plug Jack 2.5mm or 3.5mm 2pin?
and Pin out for jack pins to RCA?

Cheers.

It's a 3.5mm plug. I use the cable that came with my Nikon DSLR and I made one for my other LK-7900.

Ok 3.5mm Mono, 3.5mm is common, and I know I have a 3.5mm Plug to RCA cable somewhere in my box of tricks... just think mine are all stereo

Anybody tried to connect the LK-7900 ACE AV output to a Magellan RoadMate 1700? According to the Magellan website the RoadMate 1700 requires a 3.5 mm. but it needs three rings according to their website, it also says that a two ring connector will fit but not display video. Are there 3.5 mm. two to three ring cables that will work or do I have to custom wire it and how do I do that?

Thanks in advance for any reply!

Arthur.

I have the RoadMate 1700 and RoadMate 9250T-LMB and have them both working fine with any standard video out signal. You need to switch the yellow and the red on the signal into the RoadMate. Yellow and black are audio and red is video in.

That would mean that Magellan uses a different standard then most other manufacturers and after some more diggin' you're right, instead of using the tip of the three ring connector for the video signal they are using the ring which is normally used for the audio signal so with a standard two ring connector you would ground out the video signal. So now I have two options, making my own custom cable or re-wiring the RoadMate, how difficult was the re-wire?

It was very easy. All you need to do it attach a different connector and be able to solder. You would need to have a small soldering iron or gun with a tip that doesn't get to hot as to melt the plastic part of the connector. It wasn't hard for me but I've done this a multitude of times. You could cut and spice two cables which would be the easy way but you'd have to make sure they don't get pulled apart and it doesn't look that neat.

Good luck.
