My new mini0806 question and problem

If not easy to access the camera connector is better to buy an angled cable.
Will be nice if you can discover that the 12V outlet under the passenger dashboard can be activated by just inserting a fuse into the fusebox.

It's a BMW - the computer will shut the whole car down if it detects someone removing electricity without authorisation from Munich!

This is so good! I was afraid to not ask some authorisation from God. He is so busy with humans.

PS: nice move from some bastards to make more money. Like buying printers.

Considering some are having gps troubles as well as the powering via the mount can anyone say for sure if these will have been addressed prior to the next batch release in Feb?.. really don't want to order until I know these issues have been addressed !?!

I also ordered from FoxOffer as OP and got it a week ago, I don't have issue with mount power or GPS logs.

Seems it's just some units then, as mentioned already maybe users are breaking the power connection on the mount, not sure about the gps not working gor some though!?

I didn't play with the mount enough to see if you can actually break it, I mounted it right away and used both usb plugs to charge it, but when docking the camera it just seems fragile to me, like I could break something because it requires some force to get the unit out.

For GPS, I thought it didn't work, but then I realized I didn't enable gps stamping. It does take anywhere between 1-6 minutes to lock occasionally

wonder why the gps lock sometimes takes that long, that said my Garmin Satnav sometimes does same, and next time it's fine!

On mine, the GPS is always taking anywhere from 2-8 minutes to achieve a lock. That is way too long. I noticed that the sequential files and dates in the Registrator Viewer are out of sequence based on the dates. AMBA0032-47 should be followed by AMBA0048, but it has a date of 2006. The file AMBA0049-61 is highlighted and showing what the camera's date is, which is for 2015.

Here is the log file for 0048 from the GPS. I don't know how a firmware patch can fix this.

When you are testing the GPS connection please look at these two possibilities but keep the camera LCD to always on to see what is happening:
1. camera started, no GPS icon (maybe it will show later on the screen)
2. camera started, yes GPS icon

If 1. never showing the GPS icon to the screen try a disconnect/connect the power cable or camera which is recording, but before it will auto shutdown. Then look for icon.

OK, I set the LCD to stay on all the time. The GPS icon is on the display as soon as the screen comes on and recording starts and the green LED is flashing. The icon has the red circle over it it indicating that it is not locked. After 6 min and 40 seconds, the red circle went away and the green LED stopped flashing. After it locked, I turned the ignition off and waited for the camera to shut down. I waited about 15 - 20 seconds after it shut down and then turned the ignition back on. The same sequence happened, GPS icon is on with red circle and green LED flashing. 2 min 30 seconds later the red circle went away and the green LED stayed on.

I just returned from my trip of nearly 2000 miles and over that time I have about 400 miles with gps data -- the rest had no gps data.

I also noticed that on at least one occasion the gps started working only after several hours of driving.

I'll be contacting Spytech today to return.

I noticed that GPS disconnects alot even in clear view. Sometimes it's quick to reconnect other times takes a minute. Probably GPS module is just weak, but not a huge deal for me though. For me GPS data is useless in a dashcam as I don't see any practical use.

My gps doesn't work at all and now It stops recording. The camera makes a beeping sound and it stops recording until I manual press the record button. I have Sandisk 64gb class 10 card and it happens randomly but not often. I formatted the card to fat32 on pc and loop recording is set to off.

you need loop on

Doesn't loop recording segment the clips every 1/3/5 minute? I want continuous recording without segmentation and the manual says the max limit is 4gb per file. Please clarify, thanks

it segments the files, you can still export and view as one file, it makes file handling much easier, you won't fall into problems with size limitations or worse forget and just have it stop recording

Yes, forgetting to record was my main concern. I'm going to change it to 5min and see if happens again. Thanks

Yesterday done a 550km 'trial'with the 0806, and very happy with the result. It was a very rainy, windy **** day, but my
camera filmed all the way - cleary visible, even in half dark. GPS logs from the 99% of the trip, so no issue with GPS yet. (did pass various tunnels)

So very happy with the result. Have checked the full recording last night with registratorpro, it's really good. Total was 36Gb (nearly 6 hours movie)
I put it on 2304x1296, rest all settings on 'AUTO'. Although really grey weather, good result !!
Not sure which size to use best ie 1980x1080 @45 FPS, or the higher ? Any tips or suggestions for the size and possible other settings?
No issue with size, have 2 x 64Gb micro SD inside. (64gb SanDisk 64GB micro SD ULTRA Class 10 UHS-I 48MB/s)

So far - very happy with the 0806!

In brighter conditions you should find that "cinema mode 2560*1080px (21:9) 30fps" gives the sharpest image as it is the highest resolution, if you prefer viewing at 1920*1080px (16:9) then just zoom in to fill the height of the monitor for playback. Zooming in to fill a normal 16:9 monitor gives a more natural, narrower field of view than in the other modes too, so distances to cars in front and speeds seem more realistic than in the other modes or when zoomed out and you can then pan sideways to view what is off the side of the image if needed.

"Sport mode 1920*1080px (16:9) 45fps" may be preferable for a race track as it gives smoother playback of high speed motion, the image will not be as sharp though as it is scaled down from the native sensor resolution throwing away 44% of the detail in the process.

"normal mode 2304*1296px (16:9) 30fps" is also a scaled down image - only 2304 pixels wide out of the 2560 available - 19% of the detail thrown away compared to cinema mode.

Of course cinema mode throws away the top and bottom of the image instead of the detail, but the top and bottom very rarely contain anything of interest and when they do, the wide angle lens is useless for aeroplanes and birds!
