No because, according to scriptures, God told them they could eat any fruit with seeds in. They were told not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

There is speculation that it was a pomegranate because it is native to the region. All fruits have seeds, in any case. As for knowledge, it's hard to know what the metaphor refers to. I guess one has to believe in the scriptures and reach one's own conclusion.

I was taught it was the apple that was forbidden as it grew on the tree of knowledge. The snake made them eat it and broke the term set by God. I goess different religion has different idea of what fruit or something.
